Am happy with this. He might have had a rough season at Stoke but these situations happen.

Boyata came as a loan and he left being rated a £9M defender.

What ever made Bauer a £5.5M RB couldn't have just disappeared over night. He will have it in him. If we can get the best out of him it could be a great deal.

I see some comparing it to the toljan move. I can see the similar circumstances but it does not mean it will always end the same.

Boyata was a loan deal a initial loan deal and no doubt people would have been * it wasn't an outright buy then.

If Bauer does the business for us and we sign him it's a great deal. Buying him straight away and finding out he wasn't a great player would be a bad deal.

We could have coughed up for toljan and all been left disappointed in the end

I think this will surprise a lot of people going by some of the comments.

For a kick off you don't play 37 times for Rubin Kazan and 6 times for Austria if your a poor player. How many times do you see a European player go over to England and struggle like *?

The Russian league is far superior to ours and played against much better players than he will here, even for Stoke he would have done!
Much rather him than Ralston anyway, heck id rather myself than Ralston to be perfectly honest :60:

Would you have been happy if we signed him directly from Rubin Kazan for £5m?

    We bought Boyata outright mate.

But, aye, I’m fine with this deal. Elhamed has shown he can be first pick for us so we didn’t really need to splash the cash on this position.

Should be an upgrade on Ralston, so worst case he’ll be decent cover for Elhamed.

While I loved Lambo as a player I'm not overly convinced on his scouting talents, so Lenny saying "its good enough for me" doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence tbh but time will tell. Anyway he is here now so hopefully he is decent. I don't see a problem with the player saying what he said regarding his own abilities, it's refreshing to hear if I'm honest.

I take it Pete is back from holiday now as well then :giggle1:

Though he done a really good interview,it was nice to see his talk of being excited to be here, huge club great fans were actually backed up with talk about his mum,car sharing with a celtic fan and having worked with paul lambert.....so it was not just the usual sound bite * for us fans.

Exactly,he obviously has potential but nobody knows how he is going to do at Celtic.
Time will tell and nothing lost if he is a dud.

A loan with an option to buy is a good thing surely?

Seems the way to go for me. I don't like loans just to develop other players for other clubs but am fine with the ones for Bauer and for Forster because we have options to buy at seasons end.

I guess we'll find out on Sunday what this guy is made of. Unless McGregor plays at RB obviously.
