Im a bit out the loop when it comes to Belgian football but how can they afford to pay that much?
Brugge is a small city and I assume there isnt any bumper tv deals going on.

Their tv deal is worth about 3 times the SPFL one. They have also made about 40m+ in transfers this year I believe. They were also in the CL groups last season and have a chance of CL football again this year.

Indeed, as well they have very good scouting and often get decent young players who stick around a year or two three and get sold for decent money.

As well Brugge is probably fanwise the biggest in Belgium. They have fans from all over the place going there week in week out. Specially in the region coast to Gent its pretty much on Brugge fans.

My opinion? * club but doing good work.

They were in the champs league last year, have sold players and are one leg away from the champs league again. Shelling out huge cash for big Vic is called speculating to accumulate for future champs league, a concept that is alien to our board!

Brugge boss Phillipe Clement insists the signing of Victor Wanyama isn't dependent on his side qualifying for the Champions League.

But he admits nothing is sealed yet as the transfer sage goes into its second week.

The Belgians are red-hot favourites to book their place in club football’s most prestigious prize after an impressive 1-0 away win to Austrian upstarts LASK in the first leg.

Brugge have the chance to finish the job on home turf on Wednesday night and a deal for Wanyama was expected after weekend talks.

The Kenyan powerhouse has been offered a huge five-year contract worth £65,000 a-week as he edges closer to the Tottenham exit door.

The latest development comes after Fraser Forster piqued Celtic supporters' interest at the weekend when he admitted his former Parkhead team-mate contacted him to "keep my shirt warm for a bit", after the keeper nabbed his pal's No.67 upon his return to Glasgow.

He said: "Qualifying for the Champions League makes no difference to him whether he signs or not.

"I know not only his (physical) qualities, but also his mentality.

Of course, he is not the only boy we are working on at the moment.

"You cannot put all the eggs in one basket. The decisive stage is the last days of the transfer period."

Wanyama was a standout in green and white before he joined Southampton which led to an £11m move to Tottenham in 2016.

But Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino delivered a firm message by claiming the midfielder's exit is due to the Champions League finalists not being a charity.

He said: "It's all about performance. Football is for today and tomorrow, not yesterday.

Romour has it he tried to sign for celtic, turned up to cook lawell some pasta to sweating the deal, then he seen lawells wage offer mid meal preparation and cut the tips off his fingers in complete shock. Earn more at mcdonalds apparently.

Sounds a goer, lawell feels bad, pretended he put the dot at the wrong place in his wage contract. Hence the leaked photo, missing fingers and all.

Should be more clear after tonight. Think if Brugge qualifies and by end of thursday he still hasnt signed they might pull the plug themself. Apparently they have a second option now.
