Absolutely roasting here right now... seeing bumblebees on the ground almost too sluggish to fly !

I’m wondering if it can get too hot for them ?

I think it can,for any living thing as such. People sometimes wonder why there are not as many Butterflies around they would think in hot afternoons.

Today I saw a Pied Wagtail and a Dipper at work . But yesterday was a red letter day for sightings ; as I approached my house after work , there was a young Hedgehog wandering about on the pavement . It didn't have a care in the world . This is the first Hedgehog I've seen in my street for 20/25 years . There used to be a few fields locally , but since they've been built on the wildlife has moved on . Rabbits were once occasional visitors to my garden , but not now .

I nearly drove over a reasonably plump vole on the Newhousemill Road.

The daft wee * crossed the road in instalments but I braked and swerved to miss it!

Probably got snaffled by the buzzard that sits on the telegraph pole.

A Red Kite flew over my local patch late this morning.

PS I also got cracking close up of a very recently fledged Chiffchaff. We looked each other in the eye with its parents calling nearby so i soon withdrew.

Seen an absolutely massive bird down at the canal on a walk with the wean this morning. Wish I took a picture, I assumed it was a Heron but it was at the very least a metre tall.

Never seen one out and about that big before, it was huge.

What do they feed on, fish?
