You got to assume we do...otherwise why bring him in at all if we will continue our own recruitment

    That's exactly what is happening.

Though, lest I be called a panic merchant, it is important to point out that we've been "planning since February", so nothing to worry about really.

If all goes well then Nicky can expect an offer of a longer-term contract while he's slapping on the Lynx Africa shower gel.

No idea, I’d be surprised if that were the case.

Ralston--Simunovic--Ajer--Hayes vs the champions of Bosnia who get 25,000 for their big European ties.

Massive, massive risk. Either CB get injured/suspended and it's Hendry or Bitton stepping in. Bad, bad feeling about this one.

We are in a bit of mess just now due to a number of factors. Rodgers walking, squad coming to the end of its cycle, lack of planning by the board.

But I’m glad the club are taking action. Any kind of action now is going to be branded better late than never but it’s a step in the right direction at the end of the day.

Only questionable thing is why he is only being appointed for the duration of the summer window.

Rodgers walking early midseson is probably better for the club to start planning for this season rather than being panicked at the start of the new season. We've had plenty of time to get our * together.

Impetus has to come from the manager towards the money-men/board.. whether there’s a dof or other in between or not.

Lennon is grateful for the job as he’d be unemployed right now (and for the foreseeable) otherwise. He will not be rocking the boat this time and Lawwell knows it.

we hope that he’s not going to say ‘No’. He’s been offered the job, our intention and belief is that Neil will take it and become the Celtic manager. We just need to clarify the details.”

Ie - “we’ll get him told exacty how the finances are going to be next season.”

The ‘no major rebuild required’ statement from Lawwell was agreed on by many as ‘reasonable’ ... but that was ‘accountant- speak ‘ for “we are going to be as tight as we can get away with and yous’ll just have to lump it.”

The alarm bells have been ringing since that interview and the job appointment the day before.

They’re getting louder by the day!

This appointment would make sense to me if it were for one of the following reasons:

We have a head of recruitment lined up but they can't, for whatever reason, start straight away, so this is a stopgap measure.

    or

He is being brought in to actually recruit a head of recruitment and possibly a director of football. Lawwell doesn't know how to work with a director of football, so getting someone in that has been there and done it to lay out the job description and help with the recruitment of such a person would seem reasonable.

However, as this is us we are talking about, and taking all the amateurish crap that has been going on behind the scenes recently into consideration, it is much more likely we offered it to him on a temporary basis until Lawwell and Desmond have had ample time to ignore other applications and so they can sneak into his shower to offer it to him full time.

    Won’t be an issue mate.

    A) the big sides don’t do their business until the English transfer window shuts.

    B) everyone knows real bargains are to be found in January.

Couple of loans after we’ve been punted from the CL by a random mob of Kazakh’s is all we need anyway. Luvvly jubbly.

Wonder what role Nicky Hammond will play at celtic, as in will Lawell give up some of his power or will he be used in the same way as Congerton was ie head of recruitment

So he's not coming in as DOF. He's coming in for summer job as head of recruitment.

and his credentials seem to be, he's worked at a couple of places, and we know him.

    Everything's under control.

Honestly from what I’ve heard that would have been preferable.
