I liked Hooper and thought he did well by us. I even understood why he left.

No idea why we would look to bring him back now or what he would contribute.

If we are this desparate I'd rather we looked to Aitchison or other academy players. Hooper doesnt feel like any better an option.

Tbh I'm not arsed if he does sign but only if it isn't at the expense of Bayo.

If he is happy to kick about for a reasonable wage then it's someone that will be good to have in the squad.

Would much rather Bayo gets a chance up top with Edouard or Griffiths though at some point. He's still basically a new signing this summer.

Naw. Hooper played a good amount for us too and always delivered. When you see * like Kenny Miller and Lafferty still kicking about the league, how can you possibly write off Gary when you consider the ammunition we can supply?

Not exactly a signing to get overly excited about but if he could get back to anywhere near the form he had when he was here then it would be not bad.

He was a deadly finisher here, didn't even need to look up and he knew where the goal was.

But his record and game time since he left us is worrying to say the least

We could always offer him a short term contract or a pay as you play deal. I wouldn't be surprised if we did and he became a centurion. Only needs 18 more goals. :humpani:

Purely as a backup on the bare minimum wage that we could get away with, then yes. He'll get many chances and he's as good a finisher as anyone at the club at the moment.

Benkovic isn't ours. Shved is unknown. Sinclair has had 1 good season. Ntcham isn't a starter every week cause he canny be arsed half the time. Moussa was class but that was 3 years ago!! People seem to forget there was a point where griff was keeping edouard out the side aswell

    That’s not what you said.

Everyone one of those players excluding shved have got us off our * with their play and improved us at the time when they came in!

Former Celtic striker Gary Hooper could be set for a surprise move to Iran.

The 31-year-old has been without a club since leaving Sheffield Wednesday at the end of last season and has reportedly now agreed a deal with Esteghlal.

Hooper recently held contract talks with Bristol City but was unable to agree personal terms and that has seemingly scuppered his chances of remaining in the English Championship.

His face was prominent on the front pages of Iranian newspapers on Monday morning and it's claimed the transfer is close to completion.

Bristol City assistant boss Jamie McAllister offered little indication Hooper was still a target on Monday and it's believed they're set to offer a contract to former Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony instead.

He said: "Yeah, we’ve looked at all the out of contract ones.

"The people we’ve got at the club, the people we’ve got behind the scenes, they do all that investigation and looking at who’s available and who’s not, and putting it forward to us. We look at everyone, Europe, all over.

"It’s got to be the right fit, the right character, the right player, something we’re looking for, something we need to add to the team and make us stronger, make us better.

We’re always looking, always looking to improve. But as we said before, it has to be the right fit for the group. Fit our style and way of playing and make sure that they’ll add something that benefits the team

A report back in June claimed Hooper was back on Neil Lennon 's radar following his Hillsborough release but a sensational return did not materialise.

A move to the Middle East would see Hooper follow in the footsteps of his one-time Celtic striker partner Anthony Stokes .
