They should, but Turnbull has yet to play a full season of football; £5m is absurd. Anyway, that figure has seemingly been plucked out of thin air. I think that Motherwell would bite our arm off for £3m, so £2.5m sounds like a reasonable enough estimate from the BBC.

£3mil with 20% sell-on and he's ours right away, no doubt about it. If he's someone we desperately want, don't * about with it.

I'd rather pay more initially, and have a lower, or ideally no, sell-on fee.

Whatever happens we better not keep lowballing them and end up losing him to someone that knows he's worth 2/3m

Their chairman on record saying they are looking for "far more" than their record fee (1.7m). Going to take a fair bit to get him - several clubs down south interested.

Folk in here sounding like Lawwell. If we think he's going to be a player why not pay the appropriate fee? Should have met the asking price for Mcginn lets not get burnt again.

Scott Brown was best part of 5 mill 12 year ago. This boy has scored 15 goals from midfield this season and is a teenager. What would we be saying if Henderson had done that ?

Aye 5m is too much, even Motherwell know that. No harm in trying to start a bidding war though.

Expect him to go for 3m tops if a few clubs enter the race.

Definitely. My FM brain saw that and went mad at the thought! :56:

Hope we wrap this up quick and don't leave it months for an English club to swoop in.

Who? I have lost count of the number of people who have said pay whatever price Motherwell demand, provided it's reasonable.

How do you know that the asking price is £5m?

    Hopefully after Fletcher

    McCarthy

    McGinn

    Lawwell has learned his lesson.

History does not suggest this though.

Aye, it's imperative that we act quickly and decisively here. He's a real talent.

To be fair mate, 34 appearances including 31 starts (while it isn’t exactly every available game) is a pretty full season for a 19 year old.

Fair enough. The point stands though.

I suggested they want nearer 5 based on their chairmans comments that they want far more than their record fee . Depends what your definiton of " far more " is. Anyway I would be suprised if he goes for less than 3 .

Aye, we definitely shouldn’t be jumping in with £5m from the get-go. I think £3m buys him (even with no add-ons involved) anyway, but if it did come to £5m or losing out, I think we’d be daft to risk another McGinn/McCarthy situation.

He actually said " we will only consider offers significantly more than our record fee (1.7m) "

I think we will get him for around £2m if we move soon.

But there will be a lot of competition in that centre/attacking midfielder position and so i wonder if someone will be making way...

I think that almost double that would qualify as 'significantly more'.

I saw 1.2m and just thought, aw * Peter. He is such a penny pinching *. Odds of us actually wrapping this up are slim with him at the table. Other Scottish clubs must be sick of talking to him.

Edit: clear up that no official bid has been made, afaik.

Have we actually bid for him?
