It's been said in the past that the Celtic manager job has a shelf life of 3/4 years, there's a pattern of money being spent at the beginning of a new manager's reign then the piggy bank gets stashed towards the end as that shelf life comes to it's end.

The result is we end up working in cycles with big squad rebuilds and all the upheaval and bedding in time that involves.

That's one of the reasons why I think a DoF would probably work well, more continuity can only be a good thing.

Very accurate portrayal of what the board does with the transfer funds.

True - But when you've won every trophy available in the country since you've been in the job How much more should you need to prove to the
board so that they'll properly financialy back you?

He was properly backed. He was just * when it came to spending the money.

You just have to look at clubs in Europe with similar budgets to us to see how much better they are than us.

If Lennon is looking at players with a view to them coming to the club then you would think that Lennon as been told that the job is his. There is no way that you would let an interim Manager do that unless the job was his...

If Celtic are truly serious ie the board about 10 in a row...then Lennon will not get the job IMO
If they want to balance the books “again” as Chris Sutton suggested - then Lennon will definitely get the job

This is a no brainier it’s a 2 year plan...yes we will have to spend more than usual - but the fruits of the
boards spending should help us to achieve our goal....10 in a row

After 10 in a row pull the horns in and appoint a manager who can achieve success on a lesser budget... ie Stevie Clark

And he won those trophies with players that were mainly brought in by other managers . He brought in over 20 players including loans and how many of those are in our strongest starting 11 ? 3/4 ? Not a very good return in my view .

As I said yesterday we need to be realistic. The board may want a high profile manager of the Rafa Benitez quality but there is every likelihood that he and others have turned us down (not the club I hasten to add but the Scottish league). If that happens then Lennon may be the only man available AND willing to take the challenge on...

If the Board appoint Lenny then it will be the cheap option and will show a distinct lack of ambition.

It is easy to get carried away with the big name. Personally speaking I would prefer a big name of that Rafa/Jose calibre as I think it would be good for our standing as a club but sadly I do not think it will happen. Not because the club lack ambition but because our league is just awful - plastic pitches being one and a lack of real funds to take us to the next level in Europe. We are also a safe club and rarely speculate to accumulate - again this does not show a lack of ambition it just illustrates that we like to keep our house in order.

Supporters want 10 in a row and I just think that we need to dig deep and get the best man available regardless of cost in the short term.

So if we can't get a blockbuster name, we should just do the laziest thing and give it to Lennon?

There's an entire world of managers out there, who are doing good work. Why is it all these EPL sides have no hesitation giving jobs to these guys (Pochettino, Javi Gracia, Jokanovic, Nuno, Marco Silva, etc) who have shown themselves capable at middling clubs in Europe, yet we think we're above them. Why can't we look at Abel Ferreira or Pablo Machin for example?
