Can’t see odds for him anywhere and there’s no way the board would go for Steven Presley over Neil Lennon.

In the wrong direction, regarding European competitions- "Modern" tactics are suicide against big teams. Now, you're right on the aerial threat part, and I'm hoping we address that in the summer.

Ajax seem to be doing well with Modern tactics. We will get easily beaten in Europe by the big teams regardless of what style we play these days. Only difference a change in style could make would be the results against teams like gladbach and anderlecht but I don’t see it making a huge difference in terms of champions league progression unless we get put in the annual diddy group the draw seems to put out

And I’ll say it again. Have you seen the money Ajax have spent the past couple of seasons? Yes they are doing well but they have brought through some class players and mixed it with big buys, the comparison is flawed imo.

Would you say they have speculated to accumulate gyp? I agree it is a flawed comparison.

Probably have aye but they have sold players for big money also, and take into account the youngsters they have brought through, De Ligt and De Jong will be world class can we say with honesty that any of our players will go onto become the same?

They’ve also made less money than Celtic over the past 2 years. Yes they can produce a better player on a more consistent basis but they also have more ambition when it comes to European football

Leave them to focus on their wee games of football, that's small fry.

When we're all down tucking into the breakfast buffet in our hotel in a few years time we'll be having the last laugh.

If they don’t make a Lisbon lions penthouse suite and charge £1,967 for the weekend they’ve missed a trick

Could you pull the figures on this please to back that up, last season alone they sold players for €33 million and brought in players at over €50 million. Do you honestly think we can compete with that?

I checked their last two seasons accounts, in Dutch obviously so could have misinterpreted the figures but their Revenue for 16/17 was €112.2 million and 17/18 was €90 million compared to £90 mill and £102 million for us which is higher when converted to euros. I don’t expect us to compete with them in the long run because they can produce better players. My point was that they are brave enough to back their ambition which as a club who are outside the top 5 leagues in Europe is something we should try to match. The least we could do is spend whatever transfer money we make on the glaring holes in the squad rather than bank it

And I have pointed out they are selling players at some massive prices which helps offset their buys, mix that with their youths and they are streets ahead of us in what they can do. Like it or not we at present are a million miles away from Ajax due to circumstances other than money imo. I do agree we should be spending more on our squad though so fair point.

Yet every team in a similar situation to us who compete better than us do it by playing “modern” tactics.

The idea that parking the bus and going long will have us suddenly competing doesn’t make any sense.

Lennon’s team are horrible in possession and panic under pressure. We need to get someone who’ll have us playing similar to Ajax, Salzburg, Frankfurt etc.

Being good in possession is extremely difficult when playing against the top teams, and concepts such as a high defensive line, or * forbid, gegenpressing, are even more difficult to pull off with the kind of defenders we have. I'd rather we knew at least how to shut up shop and have a solid chance of grabbing a draw or a cheeky W with counterattacking football.

We tried being modern with Rodgers, and even had the virtuoso Rogić on the pitch. Yet we only managed to control a game away vs. Anderlecht.

So we need a manager capable of adapting his system for Europe, what we don't need to be doing is watching hoof ball every weekend.

Find it amusing that people seem to be completely forgetting Lenny’s type of football his first time, thinking that we used the aerial presence of Gary Hooper, Tony Stokes and Kris Commons to bully defenders and score header after header...

They are also just a superior club than us in football terms in most ways you can measure, imagine the money we would need to spend to get a run like they have in Europe this year

Scotland as an entire footballing country would have to change dramatically now, to then see it producing the talent Ajax/Netherlands produce which could take 15 years+ to witness.

On top of all that, we'd have to, on average, spend 5 times more than we do in the transfer window to bring in the talent they do.

Whilst we get massively undercut on players like VVD, Wanyama, Forster, Hooper perhaps even Ki and selling them for small change compared to their "rest of Europe" price and have the worst TV deal in Europe and have to go through 3 stages in order to qualify fir the CL we will never be in a position to do that.

Our net profit against the likes of Ajax isn't much really, I know it sounds like alot £17/£20mill, but if we ended up spending close to £30mill in the likes of Blind and Tadic, that net profit looks a * of a lot different.

None of us like it, but we simply can not afford to do that while living in this * backwater, stuck in the early 2000's league.
