You could tell rodgers wasn't involved with this signing as he actually looks good.

He has definitely slipped under the radar with other clubs. Can't help but feel so.

As Rodgers said he knows nothing about him, then for a change the board have (or whoever)to be congratulated for securing this lad, sounds like an excellent prospect

Composure is often overlooked, but can be the difference in making a great player. I have no idea as to Shved's general abilities, but the composure in those 2 goals is exceptional.

Celtic are set to set up a partnership with Karpaty Lviv after they signed winger Maryan Shved, according to the Ukrainian club.

And they revealed they allowed their star man to go to Celtic despite getting an offer of £500,000 more from another European club.

Shved was Brendan Rodgers' last permanent signing before his shock departure to Leicester City last week.

He's been loaned back to Karpaty and won the Ukrainian League's Player of the Week award after he netted a hat-trick.

And Karpaty are keen to establish a link with the Scottish champions.

The club's Director General, Oleg Smaliychuk, said: "Representatives of Celtic are watching him and they will come to Ukraine soon to visit us.

We are hoping to start a cooperation between our clubs and establish a link.

Maryan will be at our club for as long as we need him this season. If the season ends early for us and there is nothing to play for, then of course he will go to Scotland sooner.

"We want him to be successful in Scotland and the longer time he gets to adapt to his life at Glasgow, the better.

The truth is we could have got more money by selling Maryan to another club.

"We had official offers from three clubs and the biggest bid was from a club that offered £500,000 more than Celtic. A big European club.

"Despite the speculation, Dynamo Kiev did not make an offer.

"But I believe the player deserves the right to choose his career and nobody forced him into accepting the bigger offer.

"In the end, he told us he wanted to move to Celtic. And we were happy to conclude the transfer, even if we could have earned more money."

Good to see moves like this happening, I don't think there can be any down side to it.
