Assumed he already had retired to be fair. All the best Andy. Was unlucky to play in an era of arguably the top 3 EVER all at the same time.

Do you believe he would have kept Pete Sampras at bay? Or Boris Becker, Bjorn Borg or Tim Henman?:39:

I do. He has all the tools to beat Sampras.
Borg too difficult to say as he played with a wooden racket and Becker was his own worst enemy - player with everything to his game but like Agassi he was inconsistent.
Sampras and Borg were the model for consistency.
    Tim was well...... Tim.

He got to 8 Grand Slam Finals during the period of the 3 most successful players of all time (along with Sampras).

Sampras won all of his Slams in the 90’s with only really Agassi to compete with. Borg is almost impossible to compare and there’s plenty players better than Becker; Laver, Perry, Lendl etc etc...

He won’t ever be in a GOAT debate in terms of history of tennis but in terms of history of Scottish and British sportsmen he’ll be there.

Shame an injury is forcing him to give it up. Must be a downer having to stop playing like that.

Annoying how folk alway go on about him being a boring *. Why does every sport celeb have to be a character or a "cheeky chappy" to be liked? I much prefer Andy's dry humour.

I respect what it takes to achieve what he done and also the physical endurance to play tennis for 4 hrs plus when playing a five setter..... but honestly could never go him regardless if he was a Scottish or not

    Scotland’s greatest ever sportsman.

Probably the closest thing we’ll ever have to a Muhammad Ali, Lionel Messi or a Michael Jordan.

Absolute hero. Watching him win his first major and win Wimbledon for the first time was something else.

Gutted to see him go out like this, injuries just destroyed his body in the end but not surprising since he’d literally run himself into the ground. He proved how far hard work, dedication and a winning attitude can take you against possibly 3 of the best ever players in tennis, he played them all in their prime and still managed to win a few grand slams and 2 Olympic gold medals.

Didn’t think retirement would have come so quick for him . Had the privilege to watch him play in center court quarter final 2012 . First round in the Australian open 2014. The Australian open final 2015 , 2 wins and one loss . The 5 runner ups must hurt but he can retire with his head held high . He has lived through the greatest era of tennis .

I love Murray, he is arguably our best ever sportsperson, but you’ve listed GOAT’s of their sport and he isn’t one of them. Unfortunately not even close.
