This sounds like a thing people say people are saying should be ditched but it’s probably one lone loonball who’s started it.

Nah course it won't. They tried to sensor it a few years ago and the BBC had to reverse it's decision due to complaints.
Words are all about context, there's no way fairytale of New York uses it with any inclining of homophobia. Sometimes words just have different meanings in different cultures.

It was obviously meant as the insult against homosexuals. I don't want it censored but let's not try and pretend it has some other meaning.

Can the gays no just adopt it and put it on a positive spin just like the negros did with "*"?

That's all you hear those mad rap * shouting about is "*" this, and "*" that.

When did saying something horrible to people and then getting angry at them for being annoyed about it become such a big thing? "It's YOUR fault for being offended!"- is it?

This line has been debated for a good few years now, censored and uncensored at different times. I don't think it should be censored, but there's no need to act oblivious or annoyed at somebody who does take offence to it.

It's all about context. If someone gets offended just by someone using that word then they need to get thicker skin. But if someone is hurling abuse at someone while using those words, well then that's different.

But I can understand how the word specifically used to insult a group of people being belted out, even without malicious intent, can cause annoyance. And better yet, if you're a gay person annoyed by it, it's YOUR fault for getting annoyed by it? So now you've to deal with not only the word itself, but people getting angry at you for questioning it being used.

Funny enough, that actually is the context within the song :56:

They are coming for Its Cold Outside as well.

Jingle Bells has been targeted also coz it was originally done by “minstrels”

Aye same I understand aswell. But I guess I've just never been one to become that upset from words. A hun could call us all the fenians under the sun and it wouldn't bother me. I know I can't really relate to a gay person with the word * but gay people use the word all the time now, so there has to be a line. Either it's unacceptable for anyone to use it given the context or everyone is allowed to use it given the context.

Yeah but we know the meaning behind * and have the upper hand because of it. If the line was "you scumbag, you runt, you paedo taig *" followed by everyone joining hands, belting out the chorus and then being annoyed at us for being angry about it, different story.

I know, but ffs where does all this pc madness finish?

I'm no a fan of the prodigy, but do we start banning "smack my * up" in case it's offensive to victims of domestic abuse and other songs/titles of the same ilk?

    Getting beyond a joke mate.
