As much as i love the guy all this shows is the lack of imagination we seem to have nowadays regarding new signings. We've had a year to search the globe and find a LB and this is the best we can come up with? Same with the talk of getting Paddy and Denayer back. Every season clubs from all over Europe pick-up very decent players for fees well within our budget yet we seem to have stalled. We've done amazingly well under BR but if we fail to build from a position of strength, which is what is happening, the wheels will come off sooner rather than later and given how far ahead of the rest we have been and our superior resources it will be nothing short of a disgrace.

Thought he said he couldn’t come to Scotland because of a dispute with agents here?

Jesus wept. Love the guy and all but this looks so poor. His first two seasons were truly amazing, up and down the wing for 90 mins. In the last few years he turned into a defensive liability, going forward to create overlaps and leaving a gaping hole at LB when he couldn't get back. We got hit on the counter down that left side so many times.

He left. Went to Saudi Arabia, a lower level of football. And now we're bringing him back at 32 years of age. It's pitiful to be honest. And I'm not for one minute doubting the guys passion or love for the club. It's the 'easy option' to bring him back and a short term solution to lack of cover for KT. Why can't we identify a young LB with potential and show a bit of ambition?

I guess I must be in the minority then- An absolute no from me. Izzy was finished the last time around and hes certainly wont be any better now. If that lot can sign a Croatian International for circa £2m, who by all accounts was outstanding against them, then we can a * of a lot better than Izzy. VERY lazy work from Celtic here.

But thats exactly my point. Why arent we looking for that?

A young up and coming "project" is exactly what we require in that position. An understudy if you like who can provide cover with potential to develop and perhaps offer competition in the future

As I said I love Izzy, but he offers none of the above. In fact before he left most of us had concluded that he was in effect... done.

This signing is yet another deeply troubling move from a board which is seriously giving me the fear.

Izzy, compper, Bain, Hendry... these are not signings which allude to ambition or ineptitude for that matter. In fact they scream of deception.

I fear something is really wrong here as I dont think the board are that stupid to believe these are signings that we will be content with.

Hardly deeply troubling... We need back up, he's competent, free and knows the club.

A project good enough to challenge KT would cost decent money, money needed more elsewhere. Said project isn't going to develop much sitting on the bench for 95% of the season. I see no harm in giving Emilio a years deal or whatever.

Bring him home, he’s more than good enough to fill in domestically when Tierney needs a rest.

    Have to disagree

This is a priority for us. A club playing in 4 competitions with 2 weeks off a year cant have ONE left back. Our defence is quite rankly a joke and izzy provides, at best, adequate cover... for a season. It isnt good enough.

A young Left back would cost s a couple of million yes, but that hardly breaking the bank nor is it prioritizing that position. The money spunked on commper and/or Hendry could have done the job.

It's being sorted with Emilio by the looks of it, so we wont have one...

The money could be spunked on a player who turns out to be worse than Hendry, you know what your getting with Izzy. More than good enough back up.

Obviously isn't the player he was but he would provide decent cover domestically.

KT is 21 and off the top of my head, has broken his leg, ruptured his cruciate and has occasional calf trouble. He's not iron man. Yet he's played an incredible amount of football the last 12 months, arguably too much and it has shown at times.

    * forbid he were to pick up an injury this season and we're rocking into a European group stage with 32 year old Izzy at LB. How can folk be happy with that?

I'm not doubting that. I don't think Miller has made a competitive first team squad all season?

We need someone who can push KT and not just provide cover for domestic league games against teams in the bottom half of the table IMO

Tony gallacher would have been perfect, anyone know if we were interested in him before he went to Liverpool?
