Someone should tell Griffiths, when we sing "Here we go, 10 in a row", that isn't what we meant.

Leigh Griffiths has emerged as a transfer target for English Premier League strugglers Swansea City and MLS side Sporting Kansas City.

The 27-year-old Celtic striker is under contract until 2020 but is vying with Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard for game time, offering encouragement to interested clubs.

Valued in excess of £7million, it’s understood the striker is still regarded as an integral part of Brendan Rodgers plans for the first team but West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace have also been linked with the former Hibs and Wolves striker.

Sportsmail understands, however, that Swansea have looked at Griffiths after sliding to the foot of the English Premier League.

The Welsh club recently replaced Paul Clement with Carlos Carvalhal as manager and are in the market for a goalscoring striker.

Sporting Kansas City Chief Executive Robb Heineman has also vowed to sign a centre-forward and a playmaker this month. The MLS club’s owners plan to spend big on designated overseas players for 2018.

Question marks exist, however, over their ability to get close to the kind of fee which might prompt a conversation.

I don’t think there’s anything in the speculation at all but to me Griffiths is priceless to us and we should be warding off bids. The amount of absolute turkeys we had to go through before we found Leigh was bleak, I don’t want to return to those days.

in fairness we kept signing strikers with poor scoring records, while griffiths had a fairly solid track record of scoring goals, it was really down to our poor transfer activity. if someone offered 7 million for griffiths i would consider if dembele wasnt already looking to be out the door

We did indeed but I’m not convinced there’s a player out there we could get on comparative terms that comes with the same guarantee of goals as Super Leigh. I wouldn’t be selling £7 million. Every player has their price but in my opinion Leigh’s value to the club is much more than what we’d get in the market for him.

    I would be as well.

Would be stupid to sell him when Dembele will be leaving soon anyway. Griffiths knows how good he has it here, can’t see him wanting to leave anytime soon whereas Dembele will want to move on. Griff is the more loyal player and he doesn’t see us as a stepping stone.

Griff has had his spell in England and I don’t think he would go back as long as he was still wanted here and getting games. He is a huge fans favourite here and I would be gutted to see him go.

Have fun playing at Children's Mercy Park, Leigh. Can't see him coming to MLS to be honest unless he does it purely for the money.
