We couldn’t give him away at the moment. We should have cut our loses in the summer, easy to say that in hindsight right enough.

His stock has dropped markedly since he deigned to sign an extension. Dream move to mid championship club awaits on his current form

If we get a decent offer in January then punt him. Doesn't want to be here, or so it looks, and we already have Ntcham who is better anyway.

I loved him 6 months ago. Now he’s up there with dour-faced Gordon as my least favourite in the squad.

    Ntcham doesn't offer goals though.

If Armstrong were to reach last season's heights I think he'd be in the team over Ntcham, albeit they are different types of players.

Ntcham has 4 goals in 14 games - 4 of those games against PGS and Bayern so essentially write-offs.

Ntcham will be good for 10 goals a season.

BTW I'm not disputing Ntcham's quality. Really like him. But how many did Armstrong get last season? 20+? That's some going for a midfielder.

17 in all competitions. Aye Ntcham probably wont reach those numbers but I'd imagine he'd create more chances than Armstrong does.

    Far better passer than Armstrong.

This is how I would summarize my thoughts:

We're not a weaker team with Nthcam in over Armstrong. But we are a weaker squad without Armstrong at all.

    Hmm.

If Armstrong can get anywhere near back to his best then I completely agree, but he's been rank this season. 2 goals in 23 matches...

Like I said, I don't think he wants to be here.

Was saying all day yesterday that I hoped he started but his performance was shameful, rightly subbed at HT. Seems to be going through the motions this season, on the bench for Sunday surely

Absolutely no grit & goes into hiding in the bigger games.

Should’ve punted him when we had the chance.

Unfortunately, I think you're probably right. The length of the extension wasn't promising, nor was the fact that it took several months just to get to that point.

I suppose if there is a "positive" to this, then his poor form might turn off any potential buyers to the point where no-one that attractive is willing to sign him, which in turn, may spur him onto greater form.

He must think he can get a decent club based on last years form. I thought he would at least be motivated by the chance to impress epl teams. Looks like it could be the championship team for him next

He doesn't become a bad player overnight, but I think when BR said about a reality check for some of his players, who think they are CL quality, he couldn't have been far from his thoughts.

I don't know if it's him or his agent or Celtic playing hardball with his contract situation but signing just a years extension has benefited nobody. It's put unnecessary pressure on him and we will force him to move it a half decent bid comes in.

He should have signed a deal that allowed him to relax and develop under BR and if I good bid came in for him he could go with our blessing.

Seems like he's only out to try and impress potential suitors which was clearly evident in the LC final, with his ridiculous long range shots.

Needs to get back to making the right decisions for the team and passing when it's the correct thing to do. And not going for glory every time.

He's a smart guy and needs to understand he's by no means the finished article, get the finger out and stop believing his own hype.
