I don't think common sense has become a thing of the past. It is reducing for some though, you just need to read some of the comments in this thread to notice that tbh.

Not saying there’s not an issue, but the first post in this thread is very vague and without source. It says something like, ‘just heard about something being banned because a boys mum complained about something’.

This is part of the problem. It’s almost like scouring social media to find something to be offended about.

The actual tale is a lot darker with rape and a plot to kill and eat babies. Oh, also falling in love with her rapist and living happily ever after.

Getting offended at an adapted version involving a kiss is a bit extreme.

there are clearly some issues around how children are raised that causes discrepancies in equality between the sexes, evidenced by recent experiments...

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/proginfo/2017/33/no-more-boys-and-girls

when this programme ran, it highlighted huge differences between achievement and confidence level of the boys and girls, then making some very subtle changes eradicated said issues..

giving children an awareness of such issues is important in how theyre going to perceive the world when they are adults, meaning were less likely to have inequality in the future.

i think banning a film such as sleeping beauty is ridiculous, but to pretend that education of children is a bad thing is naive...

I think the way society reports 'news' makes a big difference compared to previous generations. One daft lady doesnt like kids watching sleeping beauty. To be blunt, who gives a *? Yet it is front page news on tabloids that only exist to wind people up as an example of "political correctness gone mad".

The world I live in feels pretty sensible. People dont care if someone says 'merry christmas' or 'seasons greeting', or if a chalkboard is called a blackboard, or whatever else. It feels like the size of the tabloid industry created to take offence at 'political correctness' is much bigger than the number of people feeling offended at in-correctness.

Correct, one person being offended by something stupid makes front page news because the tabloids know it sells and gets attention. Unfortunately in the world and culture we live in everyone has an audience.

Yes,i think that really is the case, there are a number of people who do just that. And the end of the day we have had humour since the first humans walked the earth and do gooding * are trying to kill it off.People that are easily offended by things that do not really matter are largely arseholes.
Take Little Britain, that could NOT be made now, just think about, that is how fast the power of the PC Gestapo Police has become.

People love pretending to be offended. They should go out and try get their hole instead of being a *.

Or * if they are a woman, don't want to be sexist.

Or a * if they are Gay, don't wan't to be homophobic.

Or hole if they are lesbian, or whatever they prefer if they are transgender.

Or how about just stop being a shower of mock offended *. :56:

I think most people who are offended want to be offended.
