Possibly, as you said though if we can't beat these teams, no matter how far the travel, then we don't deserve to be in the competition anyway.

CELTIC will face FC Astana of Kazakhstan in the UEFA Champions League play-off round following today's draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

So far in the competition this season, Brendan Rodgers' side have already seen off Irish side, Linfield, winning 6-0 on aggregate, and Norwegian champions, Rosenborg, with James Forrest scoring the only goal of the tie in Trondheim on Wednesday night to give the Hoops a 1-0 aggregate win and a place in the play-off round.

Now, only FC Astana stand between Celtic and the group stages of the competition. The sides met last season in the third qualifying round, with the Hoops going through 3-2 on aggregate.

The first leg of the play-off tie is scheduled for August 15/16, with the return leg on Augst 22/23. Further information on both games to follow.

No point crying about who we got both teams earned there spot and there's no doubt we're the better team. I'm sure it'll be tough but I'm confident we'll get through as long as we keep Griffiths fit

Other than the flight which others have pointed out they have to do as well, I think this lot were about the best we could get, last seasons game which we have improved on by light years should be testament to that.

I'm not always the most optimistic of folk but reading these threads makes me realise some almost want to wallow in negativity.

I believe we will do this nae bother

It's crazy how a team with the same flight distance as New York are allowed in the CL

It's not just about that though, under Lenny when we played the second leg at home against Helsingborgs and Karagandy the atmosphere was incredible and the players were able to celebrate with the 60K in the stadium that we made the CL Groups together. Last year we could only celebrate with a clutch of Celtic fans in the corner in Israel when we made it and it'll be the same again if we qualify over there.

The scenes when we qualify for the CL Groups are amazing at Celtic Park and it's a shame for a second year in a row we won't get to experience that.

If it makes anyone feel any better before Legia they drew at home with the Latvian champs 1-1 so can't be all that.....might even go over there and win!!

Think it will be another couple of tight games. Especially with them been quite a bit into their season already.

But when we have a striker I feel a lot more confident. As soon as Griff came on the other night against Rosenborg the whole team started playing a lot better. Hopefully get a 2-0 result at home then a 1-0 away.

It's a really good draw for us. Happy with that. They've certainly got goals and assists in the side, but hopefully we can sneak through to the groups.

The far west region in Kazakhstan is actually in Europe. That'll be why their teams are allowed in UEFA competitions.
