    http://readceltic.com/2017/06/10/celtic-colts-could-enter-the-spfl-for-the-201819-season/

In the 2018/19 season, Celtic Colts could make their SPFL debut in either the Highland League or Lowland League, according to the Daily Hun

The Hoops youngsters would then be expected to work their way up the leagues. However, they will not be allowed to rise any higher than League One.

The team will consist of under-21 players, with the prospect of two overage players being able to take part.

Celtic would have to register another stadium for the duration of the season, which must meet the minimum League Two ‘bronze’ standards, including floodlighting.

One possibility is Greenock Morton’s stadium Cappielow, which has a capacity of over 11,000 and is regularly used by the youth squads.

The young Bhoys will be part of the SPFL, however they will not be allowed to take part in the League Cup or Scottish Cup, unlike other SPFL teams. However, the Colts will continue to compete for the Challenge Cup.

Excellent idea for the development of the youth in our country. The more senior games they get under their belt, the better chance they have of becoming first team players.

Great idea. It would certainly prepare them better than playing against same age groups every week. Toughen them up etc and give them a reality check too, as the majority could end up playing that level.

Good idea. Hope they get to use an old little stadium and they can call it home.

It's a yes from me: the more exposure and game time these bhoys get can only be a good thing IMO for their development and finding the next KT

How will this new proposal work with the development/reserve league that's supposed to kick off at the same time? I know we have bucket loads of players on the books, but do the same kids play both leagues, with some of the first team squad players sprinkled in each? Not to mention the Challenge Cup and the UEFA Youth League. Seems a lot to ask for 17-19 yr olds to play 2-3x/week (though Tierney doesn't seem to have a problem!)

Get then in at Cathkin Park or something if we develop a smaller stadium.

Maybe we'll promote a lot more younger players to the 19s/development league that are a bit younger and the normal 19s/development players will become the colts

This is a great idea. I think one of the reasons why clubs like Ajax, Barca, Real and Dortmund succeeds in their talent development is that their reserve teams plays at an reasonable high level in their respective league systems. Letting young talented lads like Karamoko train at the best facilities in Scotland while getting much needed matching against opponents twice their age will do them world of good.

I think it would be great but they should be able to rise to Championship level rather than it being capped at First Division

    Im not sure.

From a celtic perspective it might make sense but would they really want their youngest talent playing against part time hatchet men in league one? And would that progress them faster than if they went on loan to decent teams in the SPFL or championship? I genuinely dont know the answer.

From a Scottish league perspective I dont like it just because it could end up leading to a monopoly in league one as well as the SPFL. It isnt unthinkable that after a few years you could have Celtic Bs just romping League 1 every single year with the rest playing under them for promotion. That isnt good for Scottish football. From a scottish football perspective it would be better to see the likes of Raith Rovers or Airdrie get out of league one with bigger crowds and more interest than having another celtic team dominate.

I do see the benefits as well but it doesnt fill me with excitement

If Celtic win the 1st division how will that work for Championship bottom team.
Will they get relegated and eligible 1st division team go up or is the Championship team saved from the drop.

Work as normal. Second will go as first etc as if colts wasn't in the equation.
