Today was for the younger fans amongst us their "Lisbon" moment. We have celebrated this week our greatest ever team in living memory and hopefully in 50 years we will remember this season and the achievements of "the Rodgers team"

Rogic's Invincible Treble winning goal reminded me of Kaka in his prime!

Absolutely delighted man, what a season.

Enjoy the night lads * :shamrock:

Wasn't a stellar 90 minute display and yet I'm struggling to understand how we never won by more than 1 goal. Passed up so many glorious opportunities in the 90 mins.

Pretty even 1st half. Aberdeen probably looked more dominant through field position and the number of set-pieces they had. In part down to our inability on the ball and their good use of the long ball style, they supposedly don't play. They did press well, we did play through them on a few occasions but our passing was pretty average given the previous standards set. Losing KT and the changes also contributed to a disjointed showing. Sheep done plenty of work on set-pieces and Mr Madden helped them display that with some favourable decisions. Poor goal to conceded(clever thinking by Hayes) and Gordon had a good save from another header. Aside from that, the chances were in the majority with shots from 20 yards out. Good response from us and another good finish from Stuart Armstrong. Sinclair passed up his 1st of two (very similar opportunities) on half time, which would have destroyed Aberdeen's belief. While Aberdeen were playing arguably their best and expending great effort into "prevention" rather than being proactive in their play. We had a number of gears or levels to go on our play.

2nd half became more and more under our control. BBC panel gave plenty of plaudits at half-time to Aberdeen for their "method of prevention". However as these individuals should know from watching us this season, is that we will more often than not exploit any weakness of our domestic opponents. This team have been Invincible for a number of reason. Whether its fitness, mentality or technical ability. Or indeed a combination of all. We've found answers to the problems faced. 2nd half we upped the level, we had our solution to the system Aberdeen played. Our passing and retention was better. We utilised Aberdeen's man for man approach against them( at one point Logan ended up following Sinclair to the opposite side of the pitch). Jozo and Deydryck began to step out from the back more and created an overload. forcing Aberdeen to make a decision. As a result from 70 mins onwards, Aberdeen were run ragged and clinging onto any hope of doing something in the game. Boyata,Sinclair,Griffiths and Lustig passed up great chances. Lewis made a fine save from Roberts and the Aberdeen defence were in a scramble defence mode around the penalty area. We did though almost shoot ourselves in the foot, when McGregor dallied on the ball and Aberdeen arsed up a 2 v1 scenario inside our box. The winner came from the direct running by Rogic, stood up a heavy-legged Considine and eased past him to finish beyond Lewis at his near post. Very good finish into a tight angle. The Sheep mustard one final delivery into the area, which Rooney couldn't reach. Questionable time-keeping from Madden also.

Onto Mr Madden and his inconsistent display today. As I mentioned earlier, seemed to facilitate Aberdeen's approach with generous decision. However he and his cohorts messed up big time with Tierney's absence from the rest of the game. Although the TV pictures only show Stockley elbow hitting Tierney once, I'm convinced he's already done the damage before it. Unfortunately the TV pictures couldn't confirm this. Seconds prior to this, he missed/passed on a blatant shove on Griffiths. Which resulted in an Aberdeen throw-in and lead to the Stockley incident. I also take issue with the BBC panel claiming accidental and McIness version of events, where Kieran "runs into Stockley's arm".

Fortunately,it was our players who had the biggest influence on today's outcome. Aberdeen done nothing to detract from the validity of the comments made by Brendan about the style of play. They can dress it up whatever way they want, but the numerous long balls to the left back area. Every free kick, even those inside their half, were launched long towards the Celtic box. Yes, they did work hard in preventing us from playing our normal fluent football, for 60 mins at least. You need to have a * of a lot more than that to beat this side. And no team domestically has produced that.

Aberdeen will get praise for the "effort". But it requires more than just effort. You need to have variety, you need to have the mentality and technical ability. And like Scotland at International level, Aberdeen came up short on latter.

A well deserved win, which tops off a deserved Cup win. Which completed a well deserved domestic treble.

Scottish Football has a benchmark, the other sides have to find a solution.
