    Probably a red kite...

Making a bit of a comeback everywhere and like urban areas if there are safe roost/best places like big mature trees. They circle around looking for carrion and all the pigeons and other birds fly off when they are around unless their nests are threatened and they might team up and harass the kite .

Was watching tv late one night in the dark recently and sensed something moving in hallway...

Took more of a look (without getting up) and saw something small and dark hopping right down the middle of the hall.

Thinking it was a frog that had got in somehow I went to get it to put it outside - wrong ... It was a little horseshoe bat and was hopping along the floor using its wings. I thought it must have been injured and unable to fly but looked fine.

I held it in my hand but it wouldn't fly indoors ( maybe it's little brain radar system wouldn't let it).

As soon as I took it outside it just switched itself on and was gone!

Never worked out how it got in!

Came in stuck to washing was our best guess .

I dont think so myself mate. Buzzard numbers are literally 100 times that of Red Kites...even if they are on the increase. They also look more like an eagle than the kite. (albeit smaller)I have seen them all over the motorways in central Scotland, including near Coatbridge.....ive yet to see a Kite in Scotland myself.

Thats amazing mate. Not sure i would have picked it up myself, unless i wrapped a towel around it, as they are still capable of carrying rabies! I remember that poor sod a few years back who died from a bat bite.

Reading thee BTO magazine yesterday, there was an article in it saying we were going to have a Waxwing Winter. How true it's been. I stay very very close to Paradise and for the last few days I've seen about 4/5 flocks of Waxwings. I feel blessed. Amazing little birds. I also seen my first Redwing and Fieldfare yesterday too.

A very quiet start to 2017 as such, but i look set for several visits back to the Highlands this year, also some cool Forest and Mountain Walks in North Wales thrown in,hope to put numerous cool reports out for you all.
Today i saw my first Stonechat and Fieldfare of the year, yesterday my first Redwing and Kestrel of the year.
I also hope to get some epic dawn and dusk atmospheres in 2017.

I saw a Heron in flight yesterday at work , today I saw a Red Squirrel . It was nipping about , and it appeared to be in the process of burying nuts in various locations . It was a lot milder today compared with earlier in the week , so that was likely enough to get the Squirrel hiding food .
There have been more and more signs of activity by Beavers in the area too . Even just over the last 2/3 weeks .

Had an overnight in a hotel yesterday, on the way up there was a herd of around 30 Elk just sitting at the side of the road. Stopped and took a few pics and not one of them showed any interest.
The next day we went looking at houses in the estate and here where a couple of males in people's gardens eating their plants,,,,, beautiful animals.
