Jesus you're great at being negative, if we play like we did today - a 4-1 win, v Aberdeen, a few days after the biggest game of our season, a continent away - then we'd struggle to beat Barcelona and Man City. But you, I and anyone who has ever watched football knows we'll raise our game tenfold in the European games.

Celtic are the outright favourites in the tournament to lose all group games at 7/1 :54:

Our group is also favourites to have the outright winner in it at 2/1.

Really hitting home just how hard a draw this is.

Can we bring back Naka just for these matches.:icon_mrgreen:
He put one Manc team to the sword.
He can do it to the other one.
Maybe do the same to barca as well.

This is the kind of draw that can put us back on the map. Imagine we got a * boring group. Got through. People would have expected it. "No wonder they had an easy * group"

Now imagine what teams will say if we knock city out. We'll be back. The team people will fear in the qualifiers instead of wanting us.

Imagine the feeling actually getting out of this group? Near impossible, but it'd top beating barca 2-1. Celtic would sell dvds for years to come about the campaign. The Rodgers revolution in full swing. The highs, the lows, the goals, the near misses, the heart attacks, the blunders and the wonder saves and stories to tell for generations. Can't * wait. It's our time for the big cup. I can feel it.

Love the positivity but having seen these 3 teams in action I think we'll be doing extremely well to get third in the group. You're right though nothing is impossible, I think our biggest advantage is that compared to city & barca, these games are massive for us. Group games for them are just a formality and a warm up for the knockouts, but we'll be treating every one like a final. Paradise will blow them away too so maybe there's a few miracles at home! :shamrock:

I really want us to do well in this group. I don't want to see us getting hammered but I'm struggling to see how were going to do it.

We have four days left in this transfer window after which won't be able to bring in any players until January. We have one game before we play Barcelona away and that is against Gers. I know we are great going forward with the likes of Roberts, Sinclair, Griffiths, Dembele but our midfield is porous against half decent teams and they run through us. So how, defensively, are we going to cope against quality teams who enjoy the passing/high pressing game?

Our midfield is * and totally exposes the defence, we need another solid midfielder that can pick out a pass. We give the ball away in the middle like we did in the qualifiers and Barca, Man City nd Gladbach will absolutely hammer us.

We will get hammered. Lennon's teams were very tall and physical, which gave us a set piece threat. We no longer have that!

Griffiths will leap 4 foot above any player and score some cracking headers and dead ball chips. Stop panicking.

We make up for lack of physicality with pace now - something majorly lacking under Lenny. There's no reason why we can't score a fair few goals in this Group, it's our defence that worries me.

Just paid for my 3 match CL package. Absolutely buzzing for this! Cant * wait.

Also watched Barca away to Atletico Bilbao tonight. We could do with Luis Suarez having the kind of game he had tonight, against us. Definitely not at his most clinical, infact missed a complete sitter right at the end.

Only 2 weeks till we are there!! * missed these CL nights something awful!!!

Pretty much my own reaction. Thought it was gonna be one of those hilarious, OTT ones that are so popular (?) these days.

That's not quite right - CL last 16 gets an automatic 5pt bonus. Making the EL QF means earning at least the same 5pts (a minimum of one win or two draws in each round, plus 1pt bonus for EL QF), and has the potential for up to 9pts, but earning more is certainly not guaranteed. I also think EL QF is a stretch - there are some real quality teams in there and we'd need luck in the games and luck in the draw to get there.

But of course, I agree it's nonsense not to want to progress as far as possible in Europe, whether CL/EL. The further we go, the more coefficient points and money we can earn.

We should be winning the league comfortably regardless, our head coach isn't named Ronny anymore.
