Aye probably, we could maybe offer £500k signing bonus and £20k a week, Swansea could double that without even thinking about it as could any EPL team.

If they are paying him anything near £40k that would be crazy.

I wasn't fussed whether he signed or not. If he still does then fair enough but either way I'm hoping we can aim for better.

I actually think we'll struggle to get better than him and think he would have been our best centre-back.

Only others we've been linked with are Toure and Caulker, Toures an old player and prone to the odd mistake and Caulker I dont rate at all.

He's not better than Sviachenko, not a chance.

Technically poor and rather gangly from what I seen at the Euro's

    Explain Moussa Dembele.

You come away with this nonsense every time we're linked with any decent player.

Doubt he'd instantly be our best CB. I reckon' a fit Mulgrew would give him a run for his money, never mind Sviatchenko.

I've not seen much of him bar the Euros and I doubt many others have either.

Hes more of an untested younger player though who EPL teams would have likely needed to pay about £5million compensation for when he wouldnt be getting a game for any of them.

Duffy is arguably the best defender in the Championship coming into his prime after being held back with bad injuries as a youngster, played well in the Euros and wouldnt bet against him going on to play in the EPL for years to come.

Out of Toure, Duffy and Caulker - I'd have the other two before Duffy.

I haven't seen much of Duffy but I'd be shocked if he's better than Sviatchenko.

From what I've read, Blackburn fans didn't think he was amazing last season. Seen a few saying he was alright without really standing out.

In the Euros he's had a good game against Italy by all accounts but then didn't do well against France. He made an * of it for Griezmann's second goal then got sent off.

We don't have enough defenders willing to put their head where it hurts, or willing to run through a brick wall to annihalate the opponent.

    We MUST find one.

Same but when I looked up his stats from last season in the Championship I was suprised how good they were, really excellent stuff and suprised me, defensively looking at the stats he's was easily the best centre-half in the Championship. Maybe went under the radar too cause Blackburn were a poor outfit.

They were willing to pay the compensation, that much is in the public domain.

There's more to signings than EPL clubs offering more wages therefore they cherry pick signings. Playing in front of 60k and in the Champions League, or your own example actually playing week in and week out.

They wouldnt be that impressed though considering its probably the worst Blackburn team they've ever seen. Same as Celtic fans even slagged Van Dijk because we didnt qualify for the CL etc or even some fans on here have called players diddies and called for the whole team to be punted cause we lost to Sevco.

The whole Ireland team were caught out for that goal, he done the right thing to take down Griezmann as Ireland had more of a chance to equalise with 10 than to score 2 with 11.

Stats aren't the be all and end all, mate. Unfortunately.

At the end of the day he was still part of a Blackburn Rovers defence which finished 15th. That's one of the most glaring stats.

Whether or not it was down to the players around him, I'm not sure. I just think that if people hadn't seen him play a few decent games in the Euros then he'd not be in many people's minds as someone to bring in. That sounds stupid to say because he has admittedly played quite well, however it can be dangerous judging players on international tournaments.

Let's wait and see. Swansea would be a weird one considering they have Williams, Van Der Hoorn, Amat and Fernandez already there.
