Not seen too much of him other than his performances at the Euros, but he looks the type of player that would fit right in to our defence.

If we manage to get him and Toure then it will be good business.

You'd have to think that's came straight from the horse's mouth. He's in Austria and Slovenia and speaking directly to St Brendan..

Erik is first pick, so would Kolo be happy fighting it out, or playing a bit part?

Depends, it kind of shows his style of play though. You really get 2 types of defender, ones who step forward to win balls and ones who let players get the ball and then try to deal with it. Duffy seems the sort who steps forward to intercept the ball more like Van Dijk compared to other players like Sviatchenko and Boyata youd say lets the ball go to a player then try and deal with it.

Looking at his stats too, he doesnt get dribbled past much which is a good thing. Only gets dribbled past 0.3 times a game, so on average once every 3 games which is good about as good as it gets for a centre-back. He also has a really sound first touch looking at the stats averaging losing the ball after his first touch 0.2 times per game which is only once every 5 games, very good too.

Looking at his stats I would say they look like a very good player.

2nd best player in the air in the Championship to Sam Vokes, averages 2 more headers per game than any other defender. Rarely ever beaten by someone running at him and rarely ever loses the ball about twice as good at both than the other best defenders in the Championship.

He also averages more than double the amount of shots at goal than the other top defenders so is clearly a big threat from set peices. He averaged 1.8 shots per game last season, the 2nd most by a centre back was 1 shot per game.

The fact he has such high average rating 7.40 per game despite passing accuracy of 63% and got 10 yellows and a red shows really how good a defender he was as that would all have lowered his score quite a bit yet it was only 0.06 less than the player rated the best in the League.

Also commiting fouls often it actually says that for a lot of players, it just means they commit more fouls than the average player, he only commits on average 4 fouls every 3 games or 1.3 per game which is pretty average for a centre-back.

His passing stats probably suffered due to the team he was at too, Blackburn only average 69% passing accuracy as a team, 48% possession and averaged the 3rd most long balls and headers so they werent really a slower build up possession team like we'll be.

Great news, Toure looked brilliant last season. I remember seeing him sprint the whole length of the pitch and putting in a last ditch tackle. Still got the legs for it and bags of experience

Only way he could say that with any certainty is if he has overheard/talked to someone in the team after the game today.

If we get both, assume Sviatchenko and simunovic are not for the off, then expect boyata and Ambrose to go. Mulgrew gone yet ?

Hopefully this week will be a good one in terms of signings. Duffy and Sinclair are sounding likely.

Mulgrews technically already gone as he's a free agent a most likely won't be resigned. I can see Ambrose gone and maybe Simunovic as well. I rate him higher than Boyata but the guy's made of glass and Rodgers seems to like guys with English experience. That being said, with his small squad philosophy I can see Boyata being sold in January. If both Duffy and Toure come in that leaves us with Sviatchenko and them, plus Lustig and Ajer if needed, as well as youngsters all able to play CB.

Is that the same guy I've already said countless times that his time is up at the club?

Boyata is another one who will be off. Supposedly Efe, Mulgrew and Boyata will all be offski.

Boyata has been told by Brendan supposedly that he should look for a new club after not being impressed by his performances last season.

He did like the rest in Slovenia but I still feel his time at the club is up. The same way I feel Commons time may be up, Mulgrews time is up for me and Brown is another who I feel their time is up, could argue Forrest as well time may be up yet Forrest and Brown are in Slovenia.
