Literally all of those teams should probably be seeded

Difficult games the unseeded teams, BATE are in the CL most seasons it seems. Dinamo Zagreb make it the odd season, Ludogorets have quaified once or twice recently and Copenhagen used to make it a lot but fell away a bit. Only Legia never usually qualify and they already pumped us before.

That's a tough couple of legs no matter who we face.Think this is the toughest pre/start of season we've had in a long time with Leicester,Inter and Barca friendlies in there too.

Hopefully some of the unseeded teams go through in the other ties and we put out Astana

    I'd want Copenhagen.

They have lost a couple of players recently, not far to travel and we will be more aware of them as we do a bit of scouting around Scandinavia etc. Erik could fill us in as well.

The Eastern European ties like BATE, Ludogrets, Legia etc just fill me with dread.

Those unseeded teams are every bit as good if not better than the seeded ones, getting harder every season

Wouldn't feel very confident going up against any of those sides with the current squad. 3 or 4 quality additions (CB,LW, DM, FW) and we'd be in with a great chance. If we get through to the play-offs then 2nd leg at home would be a huge benefit obviously.

Would say Olympiacos, BATE, Salzburg, Zagreb & Legia are good to go through... But the rest are poised.

Aye, most likely a Dutch team will end up in with us soon too(2 seasons) as the Eredivisie has plummeted down the ranking the last 3/4 years which will mean that Ajax or PSV will be seeded above us, along with probably Olympiacos and maybe Salzburg so we could be under pressure to get a seeded place in 2 years time as BATE, Ludogorets, Legia, Sparta Prague/Viktoria Plzen, Steaua Bucharest, Maribor, Molde, Malmo, APOEL Nicosia will all have a bawhair between us come then.

So we need to outperform most of them in Europe this season and next season, to guarentee our seeded place. Wouldnt want to end up playing Ajax or Olympiacos just to get into the CL.

I used to look at these qualifiers like nothing. I remember the teams lennon got. A relative walk in the park. Now we're playing a team just in the champions league last year, potentially harder teams again in the next round. What happened to all the * we could brush by? Or have we just fallen that much?

I still fully believe we can qualify it just seems harder this year than previous.

We still didn't really brush by anyone under Lennon.
Those kind of teams were still there, we were just lucky with the draws.

I mean, Helsingborg won the Swedish league for the first time in a while. Weren't actually that great. Karagandy is a similar tie to this.

Helsinki was quite a decent tie to get at this stage. I do think though that teams on the continent are constantly improving.

It would be disrespectful to Astana to start talking about who I'd want out of that in terms of football, it's not a given that we'll get past Astana; but for purely non-football reasons Dundalk would be awesome and Legia would be very unpleasant.
