No, it's not. He explicitly endorsed the IDF during Operation Protective Edge. 1,492 Palestinian civilians were murdered in Operation Protective Edge (UN OCHA). These are indisputable facts.

Laudable. Apartheid-era South Africa was subject to similar.

It has no right to exist as it is a occupation of Palestine

Uff, let's be really precise here to avoid a political argument that will see this thread closed.

For statements in support of an organisation many Celtic fans (myself included) believe to be complicit in the murder of Palestinian civilians but that he considers to be a legitimate army fighting a defensive war.

Who is right about the nature of this organisation not being relevant to the thread nor a debate suitable for Celtic Chat.

Come on, guys. Let's not get the thread closed with off-topic political debate, please.

There is no need to qualify that statement at all. It's a simple fact; it doesn't matter how he or you or I interpret it.

This has only come up again because Cadete (or whatever he's calling himself these days) made false accusations against our supporters. We have no problem with Israeli players representing Celtic, as well he knows. I won't accept slander.

I've no idea what this thread is about anyway. It'll be closed soon enough.

Fine but when you bring up the topic of Palestine or Israel it will always turn into a political debate

If they were even lucky enough to be allowed to leave their homeland in the first place.

It doesn't really matter if it is true (of course it's true); it's not Celtic Chat. It's also true that Cameron is a c*** and will continue with his class warfare and scary security state he is building: being true doesn't make it relevant to the thread. The only thing relevant to the thread is that many Celtic fans believe what you said to be the case (relevant as an explanation for why Bitton received flak); whether it is actually true is neither here nor there and, as long as there is one Celtic fan who disagrees (take a bow, Jorge or Cadete or whatever your new username is), you have to stick to the relevant part of the truth to avoid thread closure.

The OP didn't bring that up, though; he brought up the topic of Palestinian footballers playing for Celtic.

If a Palestinian player comes along who is good enough and we want to sign him then we will sign him, seems kinda simple, no?

Well for years it's been virtually impossible for people to leave the Gaza Strip, due to the cruel blockade,so it's true.

Quite apart from anything else, Vert, nowadays I'm sadly no longer sure Jorge is genuine. If he isn't, we are just feeding the troll.

I think the only real question here is whether a player playing in occupied Palestine would be able to complete a move and it requires a non-Celtic Chat answer.

A second consideration would be work permits at our end. A third might even be our business model: would we invest in developing a player whose future resale value might be affected by political developments rather than only football ones?

Players who represent Palestine play abroad, just looking a few up, one in Sweden, most others are doted around the middle east.
