Not unless we sign big tv deals.... Unfortunately that's what decides who's going to be successful or not. Money.

I would like to have seen Lennons team last year with Gudetti. I think that team could have qualified from the group of champions or at least pipped Ajax to 3rd giving us a stab at the europa.

To answer your question there is a half a dozen super clubs dominating the big cup and it would take a * of a cup run for us to compete but its very un realistic.

I think that we should be able to be contenders to qualify from the CL groups and give the Europa a fair whack.

Yes. At some stage in the future our size will lead to us being invited to a more lucrative league. The CL in its present format would not have been envisioned in the late 80s.

Someone sort the thread title, please.

These things go in cycles. Celtic will have a good spell again, for sure. But we'll never be a CL contender.

I'm sure Ronny has one eye on winning the Europa League.

I think we could easily reached the quarter films frequently if we actually spent a bit of money to keep are top players and maybe one or 2 big signings but to win the champion's league we would need an other golden generation of youth players

Pretty much this... although I'd never say never.

Put it this way, no one could have foreseen MON's best 11 being as good as they were... and they were only 2-3 signings away from being serious CL contenders.

We'll put together another team that gels just as well at some point in the relatively close future.

Another way to look it it is to consider the highs of the 60's/70's and the lows of the 80/'s90's, then the relative highs of the 00's.

    The wheel will turn...

So where in for relative * the next 10 years :56: just saying there's plenty of smaller clubs and clubs the same size as us who are doing better in Europe

We will improve from where we are now, but we will struggle to get to the standard of a few years back.

We were spending £6m on quality proven players 15 years ago. £6m 15 years ago was a good amount of money and with inflation and footballers values, that will probably be £20m in today's environment.

To top off players of that value we also had a genuine world class player in Henrik.

We'd need to be exceptionally lucky to find someone like that again.

We just don't have the cash to buy proven players, but hopefully we'll unearth a few good ones and hold on to them for a few years.

Cannot stand poor grammar, "peaked", not "peeked".... I read on Facebook the other day someone had went to the effort of sending a card of condolence to a recent bereavement and one person wrote "please except my sympathy"...... Wow

Everything goes in cycles, after 9 in a row did you ever think we would become 'that' team under MoN ?

We will get there again. When or how is the question.

Unless Lennoxtown starts developing top talent we'll never hit the highs of years past.

We should be regular CL group stage participants given our resources. From there, the best we can hope for realistically is a good showing in the group stages with the occasional top two finish. A few good showings in the EL however would see us pick up more coefficient points and moving into pot 3 which would, or at least should, help greatly.

We need to stop bending over as soon as we get a decent offer should be a priority get the top players on better contracts and have high release clauses
