    Welcome!
I thought he would get 2 years, but I guess the board has learned some lessons. Rather give a year, and see how it goes, and then extend the contract.

Buzzing for this, glad we went down this risky but potentially more fruitful approach

With the other candidates like Mackay etc we would know what we were getting but this could be the guy to bring us to another level

Excited about this. Wanted to post a celebratory Pukki Party gif, but bottled it.

Ah, * it...surely they won't give me a ban for just one and if you can't post one on a day like today, when can you? Please nobody quote this post or it'll end up being more than one. :smiley-laughing002:

    Agree with this.

    * very excited, cannot wait to see how he implements his philosophy at Celtic. I had generally accepted in my head we would end up with somebody like Coyle but an appointment like this shows we are casting our net further afield.

Massive test comes up first for him with the qualifiers, hope to * he can get us through. People may need to be patient with him in the league until he gets used to the Scottish game.

glad hes finally signed. the last 2 days have seemed very long waiting for this to be announced

im just a bit disappointed that its only a 12 month rolling contract. id rather have seen him given 2 or 3 years to really show the club are looking at building something long term with him

the guy has increased his reputation just by signing with us. a good season, run in the CL and nice style of football could only increase it more, and then we may have him pinched from us next summer by some club willing to hand him a blank cheque to build something in the lower half of the prem or some mid table la liga or bundesliga club

I'm a fan of a rolling contract tbh. TM wasn't on one and cost us dearly. But GS and Lenny were both on them. Gives each party the option to stay or go at the end of the season. Do a good job and you'll stay, do a * job and both can leave mutually.

hearing him refer to 'our' fans and 'my' players/team already is a good sign. i think he'll really integrate himself into the club from top to bottom if given the chance

cant wait to see how he lines us up and the way he looks to play

yeah, i get that...i just dont like it though.

maybe for the first season it makes sense. but i hope if he settles in, has us playing good football and keeps improving us then the board will sit him down and say 'we want you here long term to build something' and give him a 3 yr contract

A young manager, well respected by his peers, eager to learn and tries to play progressive football. Sounds good to me. It's a pity the qualifiers are so soon. Big test for him right away.

I know what you mean, but I think we're OK. This guy has built his career on constant, steady, year on year improvement and not on quick fixes. He will want to stay several years to see his hard work bear fruit. Of course if Real, Bayern or Man Utd (etc) come calling, he'll be off; but that won't happen next year and he doesn't seem the type to leave before finishing what he started in order to take over at Norwich or something. Two or three years from now, if he achieves what I hope and believe he can, it'll be time to start worrying about the big guns coming in for him and put him on a long contract.
