Is that them? mad that we've only sold 9 players for over £3million. Viduka is the only guy on the top 10 bought and sold.

When do you think Lennon and Wanyama's records will be broke, funny how they're both defensive midfielders too youd probably expect a forward or more skillful attacking player.

Neil was only £5.5 million. It is definitely Sutton who is the record signing.

Im not really sure, although I do recall Hartson claiming a couple of weeks ago in the papers I think that he was the record signing for 3 teams he played for and almost cost as much as Lennon? think it was Lennon anyway for Celtic.

Especially as he was 29. Imagine us doing that now. If he was 26 he'd have been well worth £6.5million but 20 * 9 lol

That would be like us paying about £8million now for someone like Darren Fletcher.

Ki's fee was probably higher than Hoopers as Ki brings in money and interest just by being in your team. Thousands of Koreans probably watch Swansea games now, buy Swansea stuff and Swansea are probably more known and seen now in Korea because of him.

The added merchandise sales and media interest from Korea and asia as a whole as he's probably a promenent person in asian football magazines or spoken about, probably advertises quite a few things on tv, posters etc is probably worth about £500k a year to a club so in effect he's paying about half his own wages lol

In a nutshell, the most we've paid for a player since August 2001 is £4.4m, and that was even way back in 2007.

Funnily enough paid to another SPL club. Hibs must have been rubbing their hands.

That's just how likely it'll be that Celtic spend £5m on a single player.

It would be interesting to see our top 10 record wages being paid out.

The two Keanes, Gravesen, Bobo and Henke probably top that list

"Stubbs joined Celtic on 10 July 1996 for £4,000,000, a record signing for Celtic and at the time the second biggest sale for Bolton. The deal became subject of scrutiny from FIFA, who initially fined Celtic £41,000 and Stubbs £28,000 for the use of unlicensed agents during the transfer. These fines were later reduced to £22,000 and £18,000 respectively on appeal."

So the Wikipedia for Celtic records has him as £3.5m, but Alan Stubbs own Wikipedia says the transfer was £4m?

    Typical accurate Wikipedia right there.

£5million I think is just too much of a gamble for us.

Our guarenteed turnover in a year is only £50million, so we'd be spending 10% of our yearly money on 1 player. Add in his signing bonus, other bonuses and if he's costing £5million probably £25k a week at least wage and in his first year he'd cost about £6.6million, if he was to be injured for any amount of time then it would be quite a big burden on the club. Probably just wouldnt be comfortable for us to deal with a £5million, £25k a week player nowadays as we'd need to hope that. 1. He was quality, 2. Didnt get injured, especially any serios 6 month+ injuries and 3. That he had the ability to be sold for atleast £7million.
