I think that Lawell has done a good job for us in terms of running Celtic as a company and bringing down the debt. But i feel that him and the board have become obsessed with cutting costs and it is affecting the quality we have in the team.

We have a very good first 11. Izzy, Ledley, Kayal, Ki, Hooper, Stokes, Mulgrew etc. But when we have injuries to these key players the level of player coming into replace them is just not good enough. The fact that we have so many Cbs on the books and i have faith in 1 (i am undecided on Wilson think he could do a job), that being a converted LB! Lennon has made some howling decisions at times, but i dont think he can be blamed for the amount of cheap option players that are around Parkhead that we now cannot shift!

Lawell is payed a weekly wage which i believe is more than some players and is then awarded with a bonus based on balance sheet success, surely now, as we are told, are in a good position financially and it is time to scrap this clause in his contract and replace it with a clause where he is only rewarded when the team is successful on the pitch.

So what do you think, time to change his contract or is it too late and he should leave?

I would have had more praise for him if he had been able to reduce the debt whilst the club was being successful. As it is all he has simply done is cut costs and be damned with the success.

Appreciate what he has done, but he has been well paid for it and frankly we need to take another direction in the board room. We simply have no ambition now.

The thing thats costing the quality in the team is playing in the * slp.....2 million for winning it........how many players can we get for that...????
Not * many and not better than we already have.
Do you work for nothing.....???? nope i didnt think so....why should he......??? and his income is not above what others in his position earn.
You sign * and * is hard to sell, sadly playing in the spl means we have to shop at pound stretcher for our players and lets be honest how many of our players would make a epl or even a championship team better.....only the ones we want to keep.

All the bullshit celtic do each summer.....tours friendlys ect ect is what keeps us ahead of the rest of the spl.....we only clear on a good year about 5 million per season clear profit.

Where did i say make him work for nothing? Read my post. We dont only make money the spl, we make our money pre season, tv revenue, ticket sales and merchandise.

So do you agree with him being payed for balance sheet success? I think its he was rewarded by bringing us success on the pitch. I dont care how the balance sheets look, i will care if them lot pick up 4iar!

Each and every single one of the board members have made their own contribution to make a howling * of it the past few years, Lawwell is no exception.

I'm wary about pinning it all on Lawwell though, Desmond gets off far too lightly whilst a real Celtic man like Lawwell gets left to take all the stick.

We definitely need a fresh approach.

Mistake me if i'm wrong but it's my understanding that Desmond is just the majority shareholder and not actually on the board which therefore he would not be in a position to point blame at??

As to Lawell signing a new contract, he has done a very good job controlling the debt but as been earlier said he's been controlling debt at the price of weakening our team with little success to show the past number of years. Teams used to hate playing us in europe but now were considered an easy draw. The fan's are'nt even showing filling the stadium anymore, he has promised alot over the years and has only succeeded in bringing our debt down(which he has done incredibly well at) I dont know if the bonus part of his contract is true about him getting a bonus for balance sheets but if it is it really should be changed to bonus for the success of the team, He needs to be able to find a balance between running a business and running a successful football club!

Nah, Desmond is on the board, he's a non-executive director.

Eric Riley is another one who's name is never mentioned, and yet he plays a major part in things.

Nothing is ever going to change our boardroom have always * us over time and time again.

In 2003 i genuinely believe we were the 3rd best team in Britain i don't even want to take a guess as to what we are going to be in the next few years if something is not changed asap if we continue to sit back we are going to be carry on being treat like sheep and the team will get worse and worse.

Very few people do, we will hear the extent of it whenever he finally leaves no doubt. Wouldn't surprise me if it's when Reid leaves.

He also has massive influence in financial circles in this country, be a shame to see him leave.

The ONLY time you hear Lawwell is season book renewal time = Empty Promises
or making jokes as in a few weeks back. well the jokes on us now. No doubt he will be consulting the David Cameron book of Bullshit speak for the AGM next Week.
