Didnt bother to read all the posts are there are too many.

I think there is no doubt under NL we are heading in the right direction. However, that direction is for the League title. Which is vital for us. Europe is a different story. We arent good enough yet. Possibly the group stages at best, but in all honesty, given how bad we were the last couple of seasons, Europe shouldnt matter.

What Neil has done is remarkable. For 2 and a bit seasons we have shuffled along with changing manager and squad two or 3 times over without settling a decent side. Celtic should always have a side where we only need to buy in 2 or 3 players, with the same going out.

    This is consistency.

We didnt really have it under WGS, he brought a lot of players in, hence the football was unpredictable. And under Mowbray it was a shambles.

Neil has now got us playing a way that is exciting, and effective. We also have a decent squad to call on. The only thing we lack a little is experience in a couple of areas. An experienced goalkeeper and an experienced striker. We have great young players full of energy and enthusiasm but at times this season, notably black december and the ICT game we could have called on a couple of older , wise heads to steer us to the wins.

But we are definitely heading in the right direction.

there are a load on here needing to get to speck savers, or confession one of the two, Celtic are a selling club got it, in the SPL ICT gave us the run around Motherwell pegged us back, for long periods of the games we played, st mirren also, and ST Johnston held us late,we have loads of corner's, but nothing happens, i don't like LENNON'S pals team, he made BROWN CAPTAIN, thats his first mistake, the guys a numpty, its all very well having young players that cost nothing, its the same with paying peanuts you get "monkeys", get rid of brown and save some money for a better player, and get rid of maloney, as hes a hospital case, the likes of a player like Bellamy, OR Carew, to start with just get one a year to add, failure to do so
and we will as i say. head in the wrong direction. and as for the guy that wants to boot in my back door pm me and ill not disapoint him
just to add can the wise men on here, tell me the forward line that i asked

We are heading in the right direction - no doubt!

In order to ensure significant change, however, what we need is major investment and that will only happen when we relocate to a league of better standing, as players commanding £6m+ transfer fees are not currently fitting in with our signing policy and are also epl bound for various reasons!

For now we enjoy what we have, which is a great manager and a team who will only get better & better.

The good times ARE ahead - Champions ahoy!

    Hail Hail

Crazy. The only way Celtic are going to improve is to bring in prospects. This year we brought in Hooper, Kayal, Ledley, Juarez, Izzy, Maj... Four of those six are now worth significantly more on the transfer market. That's progress. Well done by Lennon and the board this year.

Spot on Minty, all of the players you have mentioned, were actually on a downward spirral at whatever teams they were at. The correct man management rekindled their potential, I am more than happy with the advances we have made since Lenny took over. Although, I do voice the opinion, our board should have invested heavily in our team, immediately after Seville. We had a great team then, but should have invested heavily in the couple of positions we were weak in.

If you track the history of our club the most frustrating aspect is our failure to build properly from a position of strength. Resting on our laurels is what the old board did best.

After the MON era is different, the board were in a difficult position the spending couldn't continue as the league we play in severely inhibits our ability to sustain that kind of spending. 6m for Sutton, 6m for Hartson, 5m for Lenny, 3.5 for Thomson, 4m for Joos plus their wages. At that time the gulf between the EPL and the SPL wasn't as huge as now and indeed we took care of EPL teams quite easily on the way to Seville.

The Strachan era was successful in that the wage bill was slashed and we were still successful on the park.

I don't think anyone envisaged how inept TM would turn out to be.

Under Lenny we are heading in the right direction, with a proven effective global scouting network in place, a good youth policy and Lennys ability to sell the club to out of contract players this strategy is more viable than a 5m outlay for one player, those days are gone until we can command regular Champions League football again.:shamrock:

We have to remember that MON was handed 20 million to spend when he took over.
Hence Sutton, Thompson, Hartson Lenny etc were afforded.

TBH I am impressed with the players Lenny has brought in and hope he takes them forward to great success, he deserves it big time. :shamrock:

Think you should be embarrassed for posting this mate.
You also have the right to an opinion but your post doesn't serve any purpose. Bit sad TBH. :38:

My point is very simple to read mate, I am not saying the problem is the team, in fact tell me where I say that, the board are the problem and I have been saying this for years.
    Expect the same next season!

Shughie I have had more than my fair share of moans about the board but always in response to the teams performances. I cant moan about the team because I think they are building a really strong squad and with Lenny I think they have a young manager who has a lot of potential. I also think their handling of the whole SFA thing has been outstanding. We have built Lennoxtown and the club's finances are relatively healthy. You have even admitted yourself that you have no problem with the current team so what really is your gripe here?

A lot of my mates are of the same opinion, but now we will get the board backers, it is the board who have put us where we are just now second best and struggling in Europe, wasting millions on * players not some of the present, except for that sammy dud:47: and throwing away money on finished ex stars who are only here for a quick pay packet:38:

Weve got a fantastic new young team with a manager with great potential, sounds pretty good to me, would rather be in this position than in rangers position.

All we need is 1 or 2 quality players with a bit of experience and I think were heading to great things.

Why the * is the board getting slated?
