I like metal. I also like Slipknot but seeing as this thread isn't for that kind of metal, I like:

Mastodon, remember reading about them in Kerrang when I was 17 but never actually got around to listening to them. Recommend a track?

Colony of Birchmen is amongst the most famous, start there I'd say. I'm not huge into them but I like a few songs.

I would personally be more into Death Metal bands like Bolt Thrower, Death, Pestilence, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Pungent Stench, Benediction, Atheist, Deicide, Amon Amarth, Autopsy but I also love Thrash like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Kreator, Sepultura(the thrash years, not a big fan of Roots, its ok), Sodom. Also I would like some Folk/Celtic Metal bands like Eluvietie, Cruachan, Primodial, Sirocco and Progressive Metal like Opeth, Tool, Nevermore.

Favourite song by my favourite band. DEFINITELY LISTEN TO THIS.

Just not into Metalcore, never have been. I'm not one of those elitist Metlaheads who only listens to underground Metal to look cool or anything just never liked them, bar one or two songs which are good enough.

I like Maiden and Pantera, wouldn't listen to Avenged Sevenfold or Atreyu, not really my thing.

Thank you :icon_mrgreen: saw this on a Scunthorpe forum when I was reading their opinion on Hooper and I just had to steal it.

Pantera's 1st mention should not be on the 12th post.

    Pantera * on everything else

They're quite amazing alright and Dimebag was an absolute legend. Truly an amazing guitarist, the solo in Floods gives me the chills.

Its Metalcore, it has its roots in Hardcore Punk bands like Dishcarge and Suicidal Tendencies and bands like Biohazard and Early Machine Head had a huge influence in their sound as well, introducing breakdowns and a more Punk style chord progression. Whereas bands like Pantera where offshoots of Metallica, Slayer etc... and Maiden was one of the first. Metalcore has roots in Metal too but strictly speaking its not what I'd call pure Metal as a lot of the outside influences from aforementioned bands have had an equal if not more influence on their sound.

To be honest the avatar would suit your username more :icon_mrgreen:
