See I don't think ESPN have really thought this deal with SKY through, why would anyone who has Sky Sports want to be an extra £10 a month for half the games Setanta showed for about the same price when they'll get 30 games on Sky without paying anything extra. Plus ESPN won't have any of the Celtic-Rangers games, don't really see why most would want to subscribe with them.

Exactly right, maybe the guy who posted earlier was having trouble getting subscription info from them over the phone because they have realised not many people are going to pay £9/£10 for 30 SPL games. I for one won't be paying the extra subscription and it wouldn't surprise me if they have to lower the cost, especially when, as you say, they are not getting the 4 big games of the season!

Sounds like a crap deal. The one upside though is that with ESPN, the SPL will get more exposure in North America which means more $$$ for Celtic.

It's just a shame that Scottish football didn't flood the NA market back in the late 80's/early 90's when the quality of the league was higher. Back then no one really dominated the TV landscape over here. Now EPL dominates the airwaves.

Cheers Danni. :50: I'll just be paying the extra £9 per month i think for the extra games. So it doesn't really effect the people who have sky sports as they'll actually be saving £1 as Setanta charged £10 per month but the people who don't have sky sports but did pay for setanta are getting shafted as they would have to pay for Sky sports and ESPN if they want the extra SPL games.

Yes, you are paying £1 less but then you are also getting 30 less games for that £1 saving. Doesn't sound too good to me! :38:

I was to the understanding sky sports 1 is £27per month, sky sports 2 is £27per month, or for both & sky sports extra its £35.50per month. Now i've just purchased the job lot & the guy never had an option to include espn at the moment, so hopefuly thats included in the £35.50 or espn can go * whistle!!

Yes that is right, I suppose it is just me being tight fisted not wanting to pay the extra £9 for 30 games, none of which are the OF games and half of which won't even include Celtic, when I can view them online for free! :56:

I got the Vplus box and part of the deal was that you got setanta free but now that they have gone bust they are giving me espn free.I was already signed up to sky sports. Im not sure about your pakage , you'd be besr ringing them up about it

That also explains liam tmt 7's question i think

Aye same here mate, the HD box that only has 1 HD channel :87: * off about that aswell since I paid £50 for it on the promise more HD content would be on the way. And with the setanta finishing channel 533 is espn am but I don't get it just now, or sky sports.

How do you know what games will be getting shown?

I thought that they would just follow the same route as setanta and show Celtic and Rangers games and show a few games of the other diddy teams but i've not heard anything.

We don't know what fixtures will be shown on what yet except the four OF games, they'll all be on Sky.

All 4 OF games are going to be on Sky Sports, and judging by Setanta model it will be alternate away games involving Rangers & Celtic so I just don't see the point in paying out £90+ a year for what is on offer.

Aye fair enough. We're looking at it from 2 seperate points of view. I've got sky sports so i'll only be paying an extra £9 per month for the extra package and the game format should just be the same as it was on Setanta and i paid for that so it makes no difference to me. I'm just looking forward to watching the hoops on HD! :icon_mrgreen:

We'll get a wee taster this weekend with the Wembley Cup being on Sky Sports.

If you had Setanta and Sky Sports last year as I'm sure many of you did i don't understand why you're complaining. Getting the exact same thing for a pound a month less and half the games will feature Sky's far superior broadcasting. I dare say ESPN will broadcast the games a bit better than Setanta did too.

If you had Setanta and no Sky Sports mind you, the deal is not so good.
