Aiden McGeady Wants Fourth Title.

Celtic wonderkid Aiden McGeady has told rivals that his team are more determined than ever to make it four SPL titles in a row.

McGeady said,
"To be part of a Celtic team to win three titles in succession was incredible", but admits that this season could be even better.

"T
his could be a historic season if everything goes well" claimed McGeady who recently signed a new 5 year deal at the club he loves.

This year is the first in a while that Celtic have automatically qualified for the Champions League group stages. While rivals Rangers have to play two qualifiers, something that McGeady doesn't envy.

Infact Aiden believes this could play a part in Celtic winning the title as their schedule is more relaxed ,
"We know that we only have one game a week until the Champions League starts, so that should be a bit better for us."

Whatever the...
Barcelona Starlet on his way?

Celtic are reported to be targeting a season long loan deal for Barcelona’s latest starlet Marc Crosas. At just 20 years old Barcelona have high hopes for their young midfielder, who has been compared to the Catalan giants' superstar Xavi Hernandez by former France and Barcelona defender Lillian Thuram.

Crosas had a successful loan spell last season at French champions Olympic Lyonnais, but will once again find first team opportunities limited this season. Barcelona’s new manager Pep Guardiola has high hopes for Crosas and will not sanction a permanent transfer. It is thought he is keen to send him out on a season long loan to aid his development. Seville have also been linked but it is thought Guardiola would prefer Crosas to go to a different league. With the Catalans enjoying the last two summers on pre-season tours in...
Revenge !

Celtic defeated Porto 1-0 last night in a surprisingly competitive testimonial match in the Dragao Stadium. The Hoops had agreed to play their bitter rivals from the 2003 UEFA Cup final, much to the surprise of many Celtic fans, in Portugese keeper Victor Baia's testimonial - despite Baia being one of the worst culprits for time-wasting and theatrics on that memorable night in Seville five years ago.

Celtic started in a 4-5-1 formation with Samaras having a thankless task in the lone striker role as Porto enjoyed most of the possession in the first half. Indeed Hoops keeper Artur Boruc, starting his first pre-season game, did well to keep the Hoops in the game in the opening period. Slack play in midfield, from Donati in particular, saw the Celtic defence under pressure and Boruc once again showed his qualities and importance to his team as Porto forced the game at high tempo.

The teams emerged for the second half with Porto making seven changes and...
Celtic lost 1-0 to Cardiff City last night in Portugal in a dour pre-season friendly.

In Celtic's second and final match in the Algarve Tournament, Gordon Strachan opted to rest the regulars and field an experimental line up pairing Balde and O’Dea in central defence, with Caddis and Hinkel in the full back berths. The midfield was more predictable but up front young McGowan had a rare start alongside Samaras. Cardiff city, last season's FA Cup finalists, fielded no less than three former Rangers players in the starting line up.

The first half was lacklustre at best for Celtic as they struggled at times to retain possession, while allowing their opponents plenty of the ball. Indeed, Cardiff looked comfortable in the opening period, hitting the woodwork and taking the lead in the 16th minute, as Ledley fired a low accurate shot across the keeper towards the far corner. The remainder of the first half passed without much goalmouth action and Cardiff, probably...
Naka & Koki injured

News emerged today of both Koki Mizuno & Shunsuke Nakamura being sidelined with injury. Nakamura will undergo surgery to repair a damaged hernia, although it seems there is no real concern as to the length of time he will be out for. Nakamura will undergo surgery next Tuesday at the very same German clinic where Darren O’Dea underwent a similar procedure last term. After which the defender was back in action within a few weeks.

Nakamura, who missed a fair amount of last season with a number of niggling injuries, revealed today that he has been struggling with a groin problem plus ankle and calf pain since the end of last season. However with the aid of pain medication he was able to play for Japan in their summer World Cup qualifiers.

Despite a holiday in Japan with his family he has only had three weeks...
