    ZONAL MARKING!!:31::31::31:

this really really REALLY sends me mad.

how many goals have we seen conceeded by teams due to this tactic!!!

it shouldnt be even called zonal marking more like "Stand in an area and let people have a run on us, whilst wondering if the ball crossed into my zone as the ball flys in the back of the net marking!"

conceeded mid week to it. then decided we would try and do a mixture of it today! it doesnt work full stop!!!!!

why coaches see fit to amrk a space instead of a man is beyond me! the space doesnt score. (well it might against wilson and loovens:56:)!!

does it drive anyone else mad?

Don't get me started. Zonal marking is the pits. You don't need to be Einstein to deduce that anyone coming off a running start is going to be able to outjump someone starting from a standing position. :31:

To lose a carbon copy of the goal we conceded in Madrid was * criminal, it really was.

Lennon has to change things or he'll be out of a job.

thank * i am not the only one, thought i was letting it get on my * too much!

i have calmed down after yesterday (just) but this is still driving me mad.

totally agree exact same sort of goal conceeded.

when the other team get a corner or free kick i honnestly feel like we have conceeded a penalty!

Made a thread on here my self during the strachan era, i * hated it then and a still hate it now, ITS A MAJOR ISSUE AND NEEDS ADRESSED or we are just going to keep losing silly goals, liverpool and arsenal use it a lot and you see some of the goals they lose using it week in week out in the epl.

The fact that jellyfish's goal was a carbon copy of Falcao's says it all. We need to start marking the men!! We only had one man to really worry about in the air at the set piece and we still couldn't stop him scoring!!

Agreed! Totally rips my knitting! And whilst I'm a big supporter of Lennon, it's the one thing I was really complaining about yesterday and still feel strongly about!

It's costing us in too many games and teams have quickly realised it!

Other teams will follow suit and will be trying for corners, free kicks, etc, etc as they'll feel confident of getting something!

Every time we concede a corner these days I get an uneasy feeling!

Please, please, please change it and change it now!

If we address this, then maybe, just maybe, we'll concede fewer goals and win more games!!!

Anyways, I really need to work so ta ta for now :icon_mrgreen:

Hail Hail...and please keep the faith - we will come good!

2 goals gifted in 2 big games.

The hun backroom staff had clearly pinpointed it as a glaring weakness and so it proved.

Never understood it and never will, absolute * bollocks that will be laughed at when looked back on in years to come.

Zonal marking * me off no end. You don't have to be a world class team to score against a team using it, all you need to do is put the ball into space and have someone run onto it. As I recall it was our downfall last time the huns beat us 4-2 as well. Surely any manager can see its flaws, it's been proven not to work so I've no idea why anyone would continue to use it.

Agree and a remmember during the mowbray year that the players were marking zonally and were holding hands in the box, it was one of the worst things av seen from a celtic team................. man marking needs brought in to our play or we will keep losing goals from set pieces:50:

Zonal marking is a * joke. It gives the oppostion space to run time their runs and everything. People like jelavic and * falcao !! Lennon just point blank REFUSES to drop something that isnt working. * ridiculous as if our defence isnt bad enough already we are playing zonal marking. Unbelievable.

One commentator said, a bit after Jelavić's goal, that Brown was trying to mark him. *?:97: Brown is short, and has no business marking a big striker. If this is the consequence of zonal marking, then I fully expect Lennon to chuck it out the window, for good.

Man marking is the way to go and always has been. Zonal marking costs us time and time again.
