Title will be between Hamilton and Ross County if County lost tonight.
Hamilton's final game is against us.

CELTIC’S Development Squad battled back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against Kilmarnock at Cappielow tonight (Wednesday), but there was a sense of disappointment at the final whistle as the result ended the Hoops’ hopes of winning the title.

With Ross County losing to Hamilton at the same time, it now means that Accies have to beat Celtic this Thursday to become champions, otherwise that accolade will go to County.

Coming into this match on the back of an impressive Youth Cup final triumph last week, the Hoops started in confident style and created a couple of early chances, with Calvin Miller just failing to connect with a Theo Archibald cross and Regan Hendry’s 30-yard effort saved by the Killie keeper.

But on 14 minutes the visitors took the lead when Scott McLean controlled a headed clearance on the edge of the Celtic box and fired past Ross Doohan.

The Hoops continued pushing forward, now in search of an equaliser, but on 38 minutes Fiacre Kelleher had his own crossbar to thank for preventing an own goal after a misjudged header nearly ended up in the Celtic net

And in the last five minutes of the half, PJ Crossan had a couple of half chances, but the Killie defence denied the young Celtic striker.

Tommy McIntyre’s side started the second-half intent on getting back into the game, but within four minutes they suffered a further blow when Greg Kiltie scored to make it 2-0 to Kilmarnock.

However, five minutes later there was a glimmer of hope for the Hoops when Calvin Miller waltzed into the Killie area and rifled the ball home to reduce the deficit.

Celtic stepped up the pressure, with Killie keeper, Devlin Mackay, producing saves to deny Crossan and Hendry, although at the other end, Doohan came to Celtic’s rescue to deny the visitors a third goal.

And with 13 minutes remaining, Regan Hendry grabbed an equaliser for Celtic, sparking an all-out assault on the Kilmarnock goal in the closing stages of the game. But there was to be no late winner for the Hoops and they had to settle for what was, ultimately, a disappointing draw.
