Got a grey squirrel in the back garden, it climbs up a tree and shakes the life out of a bird feeder then back on the ground and eats the nuts

My Buzzard was back at the services this morning over at the Mausoleum side. Not the best photo, but what joy to see these wonderful creatures.

Please take a minute to watch this short report on BBC. This is above the Short Strand in Belfast where I grew up. It’s thousands upon thousands of Starlings putting on a mind blowing show for the world to see. I was lucky as a teenager to see this nearly every night as I’d take 10 minutes earlier to meet my mates, just to stand and appreciate this. I remember thinking at the time how freely they moved and how in a city of hate and murder we had nature’s phenomenon happen in our sky. It was this sight that made me believe there is more than what we know on earth.

It has been so mild in my neck of the woods so far this year that many birds are being tricked into thinking it is Spring. At the moment it is more like mid to late March.Woodpeckers are drumming,Mistle Thrushs are singing, even the odd Song Thrush. Also Buzzards and Ravens are courting.
I cannot wait for a good cold spell when the wind drops, when Jack Frost returns and gets rid of countles germs and birds really start to forage for food including some scarce species.

Very quiet on my loca patch at the moment, though 4 Crossbill did fly over this morning,my first of the year, that classic Jip Jip call of theirs.
Also the 40 or so strong Redwing flock is still around.

A couple of those pesky (but beautiful to look at) greys on my way into the services this morning

Sadly the last red I saw at Strathclyde Park was squished on the slip road on the Raith to M74 Southbound.[IMG][IMG]

B59AD0CD-F470-427E-95FB-53A706620C46.jpeg Saw 10 deer out my living room window just now.
4 of them are still grazing in the field as I type..the rest have bolted out of sight.

I’ve had The same Sparrowhawk fly into that window 3 times.
Saw it last year chasing spuggies in the hedge no more than 5 yards away.

It’s quite private where I live so yes I’m lucky in that respect..sometimes I get bored though.

The other year we had a family of hedgehogs nesting and we have 2 rabbits on the lawn most days.
