it's terrapins that have grown up, they've been there at least 10 years and am very fond of them, some folk in the work didn't believe me till they seen them for themselves, they have adapted to the environment but when a saw the state of the canal the other day a was worried about them

Quite a few birds of prey around here. Need to get out with my camera when I'm cycling one day.

The Wild Chihuahuas of Mexico. Some say a man has not really lived until he has seen those noble creatures run free in their native habitat. Late on moonless nights, you can hear their mysterious yapping in the wind, and feel the ground shake with the pounding of thousands of gnarled little feet. The herds are restless on these nights, and the cowboys watch and wait for the coming of what they call, "lords of the plains."

No, there is nothing like the Wild Chihuahuas of Mexico; the terror, the beauty, the splendor!

On the bus on way home from East Kilbride, the bus stopped at a stop just as a superb looking Buzzard landed on a fence post, right in front of me. Luckily the driver stopped for a couple of minutes so I could get a good look at this beautiful bird. Moments later a Kestrel flew by the bus. I soon forgot about going to the shopping centre. On the way home,I saw lots of Jackdaws ,masses of Magpies, all in the one tree, and to cap a good birding day ,a Raven flew overhead as we waited at traffic lights. Going to EK wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

I saw a solitary Pied Wagtail today , it was walking around in the middle of town . Yesterday something went "buzzing" past me in mid afternoon . A sign that Spring is nearby . On the same subject ; when I walked into my living room , on return from work , I could instantly feel the warmth that had been generated by the sunlight . There was no heating on in the house . That was the first time I've noticed that since last Autumn . As my Grandad used to say ; the days are getting longer and the sun's getting stronger . Roll on the spring .

Today at work , I saw a Buzzard being " seen off " by a Crow . I also saw 2 White Throated Dippers . They moved ahead of me as I walked up the route of a burn . They were both stopping after a few yards flight , and dipping/bobbing for a while , before flying on a bit and repeating the act .

Saw a wee Jenny Wren today, the first one I have seen all winter. You can usually identify them with their familiar call " Tic ' Tic" "Tic", even though you can't see them in the thicket. One of Britain's smallest birds too, I think only the Goldcrest is smaller. And today was the first time I have felt any real heat from the strong sunshine, it helps when the wind is becalmed too.

Seen a buzzard (heard it first) today out walking, and a heron flew right over my head. Also came across my first frog spawn of the year.

Excellent. The buzzard has a distinctive mewing call, and you can differentiate them from sparrow hawks and peregrine falcons immediately at a distance, as they always fly in continual circles hunting for prey on the ground.

There is also a resident heron in Maxwell Park on the small island, and you can also see them occasionally in Queens Park, they are quite tame there that you can actually walk by them as they stand on the walkway looking for sticklebacks, tadpoles and small frogs and newts in the pond.

There is also a secret herony in Newton Mearns but I am not giving out their location in an open forum.
