Last couple of nights we've been hearing an Owl a lot. I'd love to find him. I even turned the telly down just to listen to him. Beautiful.

Hit the 'upload file' button bottom right of page, when the box comes up, hit 'choose file', then select a photo from your library.... I think!

Im guessing a Tawny? Ever thought of heading out to follow the sound? At this time of year with no foliage, you are more likely to get a view.

Ive often thought about getting those night vision goggles to be able to see wildlife at night. One of those things ill probably never get around to. Or if i really had the dosh, a thermal camera!

It will be a tawny owl if it is the typical owl call.

However it is usually two calling to each other .

    One calls 'toowit'
    Other calls 'tawoo'

That's my daughters dream gift, a Thermal Camera. They would be stunning at night time. On another note, has any one noticed the increase in Pied Wagtails. Where i stay in Glasgow, there's a lot more than you'd normally see. Not complaining though, as I think they're stunning little birds.

I remember seeing a feature on them on Springwatch, (or Autumnwatch)and apparently they are more likely to congregate in cities in winter as the temperature is a couple of degrees higher. You can see hundreds of them if you know where they roost at night. (apparently)

While walking with my partner in crime Jasmine Boxer on my local patch this morning i saw my first Peregrine of 2017,a cool hunting mode female, also a calling Green Woodpecker,a sizable flock of Long Tailed * and when i got back to my house a neat flock of Redwing were noted.

PS Anyone on here doing the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch at the end of the month??
