Thanks Ghirls and Bhoys, this bad weather is playing havoc with getting out and about with the camera but I suppose it can't last forever and there'll be plenty more operchancities, there was a Blackbird on the tree outside the house singing his heart out this morning and it was really uplifting to hear.

A superb mixed flock of Starlings and Fieldfares Jeannie.Fieldfares being large members of the Thrush family that spend the Autumn and winter here. The odd pair stay on and nest in the Highlands:50:

@cidermaster never heard of Fieldfares :50: Another one to add to the list. I never realized that there were starlings there. I did feel though that they were two different flocks and so near each other.

I think starlings are beautiful birds especially if you see them in nice light that shows of the colours of the feather's

Although I love the garden and the wildlife it attracts , some is great to see while sometimes nature is raw .
Good few years ago looked out and there was a wee wild rabbit about the garden , if you went out it shot under the hut . Over a good 18 months it stayed and was fascinating watching it grow up , then it was gone , never saw one again .
Last year winter time I noticed 2 wee fattish birds id never saw before , checked google and they were Wrens , which were woodland birds more seen up north , stayed for a couple of days feeding and watering then moved on , again ive not saw any since .
The bad , that old crow I befriended was certainly the older of the , I called family of crows that were always about . I did notice it came and took bread ( before I was feeding it personally ) first, then the other crows moved in after it moved away , then one day I heard the commotion out side and 2 younger crows were giving it a torrid time . I raced out and they flew away but the old one was done for , I took it there was a new leader in town , buried him , other crows still about .
One horrific day I heard the frantic bird squawks , looked out and there was a huge seagull swallowing a young starling chick alive , was really awful ( and why I cant take to seagulls ).
lastly , was in the garden when at what I thought was 100mph a pigeon was flying with a hawk type bird was right behind it , the pigeon headed for the gap between the houses , but it was the graceful way the hawk went from horizontal to perpendicular as it darted between the houses , was a couple of days later I found the pigeon below the front hedge minus its breast meat … nature gads sometimes .

Walking home tonight and met this very timid fox. Was chewing on some chicken bones. Closest I’ve got to a fox in a long time

I hate Seagulls and Magpies. My sister had one of those small parrot like birds and it got out one day. They heard it screaming on the roof as the Seagulls went in for the kill. I also witnessed a Magpie making off with a Starling chick straight from the nest. The parents and other Starlings were dive bombing it to try and get it to let go. We used to feed all the Blackbirds in the garden as they were really tame and friendly. One day I was in the garden and suddenly there was a racket and the blackbird shot past with a hawk on it's tail. It dived into the Ivy arch and the hawk tried to dive in after it. Hubby whacked the Ivy with a spade and it took off. It took a day before the wee soul came back out the Ivy but he was none the worse for wear.
