Found a cool colony of Purple Hairstreak in my local woodland today, also a dapper Brimstone noted as well and one of the resident Green Woodpeckers.
Yesterday evening 20 Swift fed and screamed above my house.

We have a bush in our front garden, and this Summer it has grew massively. It does look nice, but it's attracting Red Admiral Butterflies in huge numbers. As someone who's terrified of Moths and Butterflies, and the bush is only about 12 ft from my front door, it's a *' nightmare. It's also attracting lots of Bees. I'm not too bothered about the Bees, as the go about their daily business and don't usually bother you, but having Butterflies so close to my house is terrifying me. My neighbours must love watching me get into my car in the morning. It's like a military operation. Open the door and RUN. Not forgetting to pull the door shut behind me as I don't want one in the house. My wife thinks it's hilarious. I'm glad I'm making her laugh.

This morning on my local patch 2 calling Golden Plovers flew overhead. Also one of the local Kestrels was noted and a family party of noisy Nuthatch were also observed.

Wildlife folk are saying this year is a once in a decade event that millions of butterflies arrive in Scotland, I read that Chris Packham guy talking about it.

I've seen loads of them about up the canal between Maryhill and Kirky and also in Dawsholm Park.

Yes very handsome birds indeed good friend. I remember very fondly seeing my first as a 10 year old in a friend’s garden coming to a bird feeder.
We are lucky here they are pretty common but the good news since the late 80s they have spread to Scotland which is cool, still very local but increasing every year. :50:

Only ever seen one if these birds twice in my life. Pollock Park has a small feeding station, and it attracts a Nuthatch. The girl working there told us they were quite shy birds to see at the station, so we would have to be patient. After about an hour, success. A beautiful Nuthatch came down to the feeders. We were really lucky in that the bird came regularly to the feeder for about an hour.
The other time was at a Birdfair in Edinburgh where a Nuthatch goT caught in a net , so the BTO could ring it. When it was announced over the tannoy, the rush to see this bird was like a stampede. They are very rare is Scotland, but my daughter and I got a great close up view of it. My daughter even got to release a newly rung Siskin that day.

sitting having a cuppa at work today, there's a quite high bush in the corner of the garden which is covered in big red berries and the amount of birds coming to it is great to watch, most common bird on the tree are thrushes,iv'e never seen so many in the one place, I always thought they were solitary birds.

I see this beauty on Newhousemill Road regularly and tonight I had my phone ready! Every time I stop it flies away, but tonight it stayed long enough to get some pics!

    I’m guessing Buzzard?

Yes a cool Common Buzzard. They really Have made a splendid come back in the last 3 decades.
If this was 50 years ago they were confined to the Highlands,Lake District, mid Wales and Devon.

I see Buzzards almost every day , whilst travelling to work . You can often see them being mobbed by smaller birds .

I was out walking yesterday , the Cateran trail between Glenshee and Glenisla . The weather/visibility was poor , but we still managed to see various Frogs , Swans , Ducks , Deer , a Buzzard and a Woodcock . That was me completing the entire Cateran trail , done in sections over a few years . I can recommend it if anyone's considering walking it , but some areas are very poorly served by public transport .
