With the English transfer window shutting at the start of their season, the teams are now forced to sign the players they actually need and not wait a few games to see how their lineup performs. If our window shut at the same time as theirs, surely we would be in a better position to tackle Europe as we would be forced to get players in before the third qualifying round.

However, on the flip side, it would also give our board less time to replace players like Tierney and would also mean we wouldn't even have the scraps from England to 'salvage' our window if all * breaks loose.

Personally, I think our window shutting at the same time as England would only be positive as it would mean the board couldn't gamble on qualification before making signings and would either have to sign players or leave them.

To me, this extra two or three weeks is detrimental to us as we never seem to do anything anyway and anyone we do usually sign could probably have been signed a month before.

    Thoughts?

Transfer window not even opening would probably suit us better.

The English transfer window closing so early is hurting us. Now we lose the players to the EPL before our qualifiers, whereas we used to be able to hold onto them until after our fate had been decided.

Not sure that when our one closes has made any difference. Our board is gonna do whatever it's gonna do, irrelevant of the date. I thought it might be really useful to us, but since we don't seem to be interested in markets outside the uk, it doesn't matter...

Be great for the board to have more excuses. “We really tried but ran out of time”

I think it would just create more excuses, like @CookieMonster pointed out.

    Nope.

Nothing to stop us actually having a coherent plan in place prior the window opening and implementing it immediately upon opening. We could make our own in-club ‘deadline’ if we really wanted to, but ultimately we’ve demonstrated time and time again a lack of forward planning when it comes to replacing quality.

    * transfers, who needs transfers nowadays.

Just bag some freebies and loans of hoarders like city and psg that'll do us.
