the way things have went we could get Portugal vs. Argentina in the QF. Messi vs. Ronaldo on the world stage.
Uruguay and France are gonna be hard to beat though

Banega made a big difference, not just with his ability, but in a way that his ability on the ball gives the players in front of him the confidence to break lines and make runs.

The French game could be interesting, will suit Argentina going in as underdogs and not being expected to be the aggressor. Curtains though if the French attackers turn up.

Yep, concur - remarkable really considering they haven't had a decent CM play for Argentina in years + neither NT has a good coach at the helm

Absolutely, he was a disaster waiting to happen inside the first 5 minutes of the match. Big reason why his move to China was welcomed at Barcelona tbh, he provided a great deal to all the teams he has played in but he remains in the squad on personality & leadership alone. Hope Sampaoli comes to his senses but can't see Mascherano sitting, shame since he is a real liability. Of course, just watch him put in a great shift against Les Bleus

Shocked that Sampaoli left Di Maria on for as long as he did when it was clear after a quarter hour in the 2nd half that he was completed gassed. Pavon was terrific and if they could nearly get that on the left as well it would open things up. Truth is at that point I had hoped for Dybala to come on and switch Pavon to the left but the choice of Kun made sense too since they need a goal

Too much stress for me on the night, still think it was a penalty on Rojo which begs the question of what the * VAR is for but I suppose this is one of many examples of how poor it has been in the WC

Aye he doesn't fit in. Thought he could maybe do a job still at centre half but Mbappe, Dembele and Griezmann would torture him..

Paredes next to Banega should've been the squad choice. Perotti also..

Di Maria was poor for me yesterday. Has all the skill but poor decision making and trying flicks and tricks over head's when your country needs you to perform, is pathetic..

Dybala is a mystery. Meza on before him and starting the other 2 is mind boggling. Higuain showed he can't be trusted either..

    Should be

    Armani

    Mercado
    Fazio
    Otamendi
    Tagliafico

    Banega
    Lo Celso/Biglia

    Messi
    Dybala
    Pavon

    Aguero

Agreed. VAR has had numerous failings all through this..

I think Dybala and Messi like to operate in too similar a position. Been a top player in Serie A since 2014 and still only has 13 caps with no goals, must be a reason managers like Sampaoli, Martino, Messi ect don't fancy him. :fear:

Meza likes to operate for opposing team's by playing 100% of his passes to them..

Can see why he would keep him out or be subbed on before him :fear:

Bizarre how many minutes he's gotten, been absolutely dire. Looks like he belongs nowhere near an Argentina squad.

Gonzo is dire, everyone is tired of seeing him squander chances at the WC
