    Going historically, I don't think it will go like that. 7 been the most since '74. But it wouldn't be a huge surprise. If he doesn't grab 2-3 at least he will be disappointed.

    Yeah the service around him for Potugal isn't particularly great either, but it will still be disappointing from him not to score a few vs Morocco and Iran.

    It's really not bizarre at all to think Ronaldo is more than capable of scoring a fair amount of goals in this World Cup. The guy who scored 15 goals in 10 games in qualifiers and is all time top goalscorer for club and country.

    Don't think anyone suggested he wasn't capable?

    My point is he's played 13 World Cup games and has 3 goals to his name, he won't score 10 goals in the Group.

    Yeah that a joke, I don't think he'll be scoring 10 group stage goals either. As I've already said, I could see him scoring 4 or 5 though if Portugal turn up firing for this. I don't think his previous World Cup record will have much of an impact on that whatsoever. 26 goals in his last 26 international games shows they set up to play to his strengths, even more so than they did in 2010 or 2014. Most likely his final World Cup as well, I expect he'll deliver.

    I hope for Portugal’s sake that he isn’t going to be a starter in the World Cup.

    I haven’t watched Portugal in a while but I didn’t think he was still classed as a starter. I thought he was just a squad player.

    Surely they have better?

    They'd a Spanish journo on Off The Ball last night. He claimed Lopetegui signed on the condition it wouldn't be announced pre tournament.

    He was saying Marca published a '20 most likely successors to Zidane' list on Monday and he wasn't even on it.
    Deal was done in private and RM players told but it's thought to have started to leak from one of the players family or friends. Then Real rushed out a statement yesterday confirming it causing this * storm.

    Surely he stays now with first game on Friday evening
