I use a collar but Ruby Roo can be like a Kangeroo hence the nickname:giggle2:
Those stretch leads that pull back and forward quickly can be a pain so I have a long strong leather lead as well to suit different walks.
As for Harnesses it really is mixed reviews but more recently I hear more bad reviews than good ones without doubt.

I use a harness too (and a better fitting one than the last pic I posted), but the lad claimed he was told it restricts the extension of one of their shoulder bones, which isn’t great for them. Thing is, my dog is a scent hound, so his nose is always on the ground sniffing, so a collar isn’t good for his neck or his breathing.

Had mine at the vet on Friday because he vomited on the Thursday, but then again on the Friday and wasn’t interested in his food. So I took him to the vet on Friday afternoon. Vet gave him an injection for nausea and thankfully he’s been fine since. A beagle losing interest in food isn’t normal. :giggle1:

Yes it came out wrong a post I did about using a Harness. It is all about getting the right one for your dog and one that suits your dog. Sounds like to me you have made the right call.
As for my Ruby Boxer I have gone back to a good quality leather standard lead. Those stretch long leads at the end of the day do not suit her.
Out of interest what is your Beagle like off the lead and how does he get on with other dogs? I am guessing he gets on really well with other dogs.

He pulls a bit on the lead as he wants to sniff everything but he listens to commands to sit and wait on the lead. He gets on with the majority of dogs but because he’s so excited and wants to play, not every dog wants to get on with him. :giggle1:

Yes my Ruby Roo is very similar. She thinks all dogs are there to play with her. She sometimes puts the brakes on and demands to play there and then.
She is lucky to a good number of Doggie friends which is good because after a long walk and big play she gets proper happy tired.
I have never understood some dog walkers who refuse to let their dogs socialise with other dogs other than a good reason.
