For Paddy or any kid who is still developing, it's unfortunate that the quality of the SPFL is such that they will only be judged based on the success they have in the CL and possibly the 4/6 games we have vs. them. Until other teams in the SPFL raise the level of their play, no one in the top 5 leagues in Europe, let alone England, will give much credence to performances in the league. Thus, non-Scottish players from the top countries who want to achieve national honors will be forced to leave Scotland. It's sad, and a major selling point used against Celtic, that the poor level of the opposition we face up here is perceived to stunt the development of top players. These kids are forced to go down South to get the level of recognition they crave.

In the past yes but look at KT and Dembele. Big moves ahead for both probably and for good money to. Big teams looking at both so I wouldn't be to downbeat regarding Roberts,

Folk who rate him? You mean like our current manager that rates him very highly and had him playing very well at a level paddy is only currently able to aspire to

Not quite sure what you mean here.

Do you mean Sterling was playing a lot better than Paddy currently is or playing in a better league ?

Definitely deserves a chance with them but to say he's far better than those 3 is ridiculous.

No more than ajer deserves a chance with us and that erik has been out of favour recently. but that doesnt make ajer a better player than him

He said the only people that rate sterling are city fans or them deluded " best league in the world" crowd. It's a fact that brendan rates Sterling very high.

But that bit aye I mean like sterling has done it in the premier league under Brendan , played some fantastic ball at a higher level than Paddy. A level that paddy is aspiring to.
That is no slight on paddy. I'm only talking about him saying that paddy is better than sterling.

Sterling is overrated, but the idea that he's some sort of jobber is mental. He was outstanding for Liverpool when he played behind Suarez and Sturridge me was the outstanding player in England this season for the first 2/3 months of the season.

People thinking that Roberts should somehow walk into that City team ahead of him are deluded.

Sterling was good at Liverpool. Now he's a waste of a jersey whenever I've seen him play. Couldn't finish his dinner either. He's regressed majorly since moving to Man City which isn't surprising when your being paid over 100k a week for minimal effort.

Who said anything about walking into the team? I said I rate him better than some of the options they currently have and would deserve a chance to show that. Unfortunately, given the climate in England this won't be the case.

No one mentioned him walking into City's team apart from you.

Again, Sterling was rightly rated highly at Liverpool when he was playing well and when Brendan was there, no argument. It's a different story now. Much different to the player he was at Liverpool. He never looks confident and constantly bottles it in front of goal.

Well you said you think he's better than Sterling and Navas. Surely he should walk into the team if he's that much better?

    After all Sterling is 'gash'...

I get that some of the fee paid will be donated, but who would actually buy that to hand on their wall? Apart from the two lads themself.

I absolutely love the pair of them here, and Roberts going will be a massive miss. Won't feel as gutted to see a player leave as much as I did when larsson left, but this one will be up there. The kid is something different and is a level above what we can ever hope to get from unearthing a gem.

Would love to keep him if we can, but his own career will be miles above us. I hope for his sake, and fair play to the guy moving on and hope he looks fondly on his time here as we all do.

But still, I wouldnt buy that to hang on my wall.
