Can't wait to have him and Dembele back, they're our two best players in the air in both boxes and we've missed them all season so far. Would probably have added a goal or two and gave us better protection in our own box.

Aye Dembele has been immense defending the front post area at corners.

Aye, seems the majority of corners against us Dembele clears at that front area. I had been * myself in the Rosenborg and Astana games about set peices without them two as they both had quite tall teams, especially Astana about 8 of their starting XI looked 6ft+.

I'd still rather have Erik in ahead of boyata in big games. I hope I'm proven wrong, but Boyata is someway off CL quality.

    Any updates on his injury?

First group stage fixture is on 12th/13th September, any chance of him making this?

Ideally you'd want to get him some game time to get up to speed

Stubbs saying that none of our defenders good enough for the CL apart from KT..

    Has he got a point?

I'd honestly argue that jozo is good enough but you can't depend on one centre half you need another solid one beside him and a fairly solid RB

Lustig has proven himself at European and international level. He's even done it at a longer and more consistent standard than Tierney (because of his age), so that's pure rubbish imo.

The guy has 80 European career appearances across the Europa and Champions League, plus over 50 international caps. Pretty insulting tbh.

    Simunovic is.

Boyata hasn't yet played for us in the UCL so that's just supposition on his part.

Erik looked ropey against Linfield never mind the top guns in Europe.

Lustig is experienced but gives me the fear against top class opposition.

Gamboa - not yet had a run in the team to decide definitively, certainly has the pace to keep up with faster wingers.

Rivaldo Coatzee - again unknown quantity, going on Rodger's comments it's unlikely he'll be played unless injuries/suspensions dictate.

Yeah but he's nowhere near as good as he was... He does look out of place against pacey players and even going forward at times he usually takes a touch n passes it straight back

Lustig is past it, I'm afraid. He only gets away with being poor on here because he's an uber-Tim.

Disagree with that, you could count on one hand the amount of under-par performances from Tierney for Celtic. Can't think of any shockers he'd had to be honest.

That he is. Dont bully my we lustig :56: at current rates he'll be the only available person who can play at cb :56:

Cant wait to see his celebration after he back heels the winner right through ronaldos legs.

No. Jozo is superb, he's our best defender imo. Delighted that Burnley stuff was bollox. We're a different team with him in the starting 11. Everyone around him improves simply because he's there.
Boyata is a good defender but he's not to be the man playing it from the back like Bitton can.
When Boyata is in the team alongside Jozo, Ntcham needs to drop central between them to take possession and start our attacks. A right full capable of playing as wide and as high as Tierney would be nice. I like Lustig a lot but his backing off for goal 1 & 4 v Astana maybe showed he doesn't trust himself matched 1 v 1.

Boyata is actually more suited to that level.

He's bigger, faster and more physical. Just his concentration that worries me at times.

He's bigger, faster and more physical, but his positioning and ability on the ball really worries me against top CL strikers.

His aerial threat will be an absolutely massive weapon for us in the CL. It means even if we are struggling to make inroads into the PSG or Bayern defense, or even get a hold of possession, we still have a chance of nicking a goal out of nothing.
We really lack that threat without him in the team.
During the campaigns where Strachan and Lennon got us to the last 16, I remember we scored a lot of goals from headers.
How many times has a big team being dominating us at CP only for big Vic or someone to pop up from a corner and nick a goal. The whole game turns on it's head, the stadium is hopping, the team gets a lift and the opposition start to * themselves.

I have a vision of him being the hero on at least one occasion.
