Look a bit closer at Boyata's other hand.

I would always have O'Connell in front of both Boyata and Ambrose.
What is coming across to me now is we could do with buying another reliable CB.

To be honest his tackling was very decent tonight ,made quite a few important clearances ,as well.On the ball he was very bad .Ball distribution was the biggest problem. Still ,have to say he was somewhat better than I expected him to be.

Yes, he had couple of decent blocks, but nothing "great". He can't pass to save his life though...

Have to remember this was always a game where someone would come in..

Toure will probably play against Barca, and Jozo in the Cup Final, and Boyata will be nowhere to be seen..

Never going to be good enough for us or a ball-playing CB, but I think once he gets a good run of games for someone, there is a defender there.

If I were him, I'd get a loan deal to another SPL club and get some games under my belt. I'm sure he has enough in his locker for the English Championship eventually.

I think you're right about him being Championship standard. I just don't know why we still have him or are still playing him when we have O'Connell as someone else mentioned.

He did though make one great headed clearance that looked goal bound but overall I don't think he's good enough for Celtic. I think his positional sense is a bit hit and miss and he's not great on the ball either.

I'm glad he got the experience and we won but I don't want to see him playing too often with the players we have already.

To be fair to the defence they kept a clean sheet when the forwards should have made it a far more comfortable win.

think he settled after 20 mins and was very comfortable ,his pace helps him and i thought he read the game positionally very well which surprised me a little .

Few dopey passes which everyone committed last night but wasn't terrible had a decent game, still Jolo is first choice with Erik.

If we want to be competitive in the Champions League in the coming seasons then Boyata should be nowhere near the starting 11 or even on the bench for that matter.

Not excusing the guy cos I think he's been very poor for us, but think the surface didn't help him. Our bigger players Dembele, Rogic and Boyata seemed to really struggle for purchase and balance on the surface, slipping about , unable to run freely or get up speed quickly.
