    Former Premier League footballer Carlton Cole is likely to be sacked by Indonesian club Persib, after failing to score a single goal this season.

    The former West Ham striker, now 33, joined Persib in March but has not impressed the club's manager Umuh Muchtar.

    Cole had signed a one-year deal with the team which is owned by Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir, who is also president of Italian giants Inter Milan.

    Boss Muchtar said: "It's the management's decision to dismiss him, we will have a new player in the second round of the season.

    "He plays very badly compared to the other [foreign players] who have joined Persib. He had the worst performance."

    CELTIC flop Carlton Cole could be set for a shock return to the Premier League with struggling Crystal Palace.

    The 33-year-old was sensationally SACKED by Idonesian club Persib last month after failing to score a single goal since signing in March.

    Since then, the West Ham favourite has been on the lookout for a new club since with Championship sides Bolton and Hull expressing an interest.

    But with striker Christian Benteke ruled out for up to six weeks with a knee injury, the Daily Star claim rock bottom Palace are weighing up a move for the seven-times capped England player.

    New Selhurst Park boss Roy Hodgson would look to offer Cole a three-month contract, with the option of an extension should he make an impact.

    However, it’s claimed that Cole would prefer a more secure deal with a Championship club as he looks to get his career back on track.

    Cole joined Celtic on an 18-month deal after impressing boss Ronny Deila on trial.

    But the ex-Chelsea man failed to prove his fitness in Scotland and scored just once in five appearances for the Hoops.

    He agreed to rip up his contract a year early after Brendan Rodgers’ arrival last summer before his ill-fated spell in Indonesia.
