January signing Eboue Kouassi made his second successive start for the young Hoops after playing an hour of the 1-0 win over Hibernian in the SFA Youth Cup on Friday.

And the midfielder showed some nice touches as he got another valuable 90 minutes under his belt in his bid to achieve full match sharpness.

BR on @ebouekouassi97: "He’ll certainly come into the squad within the next couple of weeks."

BR: "He had a bit of an illness when he came in so he’s working his way back to fitness. Not too far away from featuring."

Ivory coast midfielder, Eboue Kouassi, who joined the club during the recent January transfer window, has now had two run-outs with the Development Squad, playing for an hour in the 1-0 SFA Youth Cup win over Hibernian last Friday, and then the whole game on Tuesday night against Dundee at Lennoxtown, which the Hoops also won 1-0.

“He’ll certainly come into the squad within the next couple of weeks,” the manager said. “It’s all about timing with him. He had a bit of an illness when he came in so he’s working his way back to fitness. That takes time.

“Speaking to people who have had that illness, it really drains your energy. You need to work your way back up to fitness. He’s played 60 minutes, he’s played 90 minutes and we’ll look at getting him another 90 minutes. Then he’s not going to be too far away from featuring.”

Would have thought we'd have got to see him play by now. Hope he'll be worth the wait.

Bitton's gotta be pretty happy each day he hears about how Eboue's still getting acclimated to Scotland and the team. Signing him for 3 million is definitely a big sign of intent from Brendan, and if he comes on productively right away and emerges as a regular in our starting XI I think that'll spell the end for Bitton come the summer window. I guess time will tell how like-for-like they are in terms of their roles in the squad, but from watching the limited clips of him that I've seen I see Eboue playing a very similar role to Nir, except having more energy on the pitch and a bit more to his game in general.

Whether he comes in and takes Biton's place or not, we will still need squad depth. I'd be happy for Biton to stick around unless we receive a good offer.

I feel like Bitton is the kind of guy who will push for a move if he's told (or realizes) that he'll only be a squad player come the summer. I know him being a squad player was the case before we had a few injuries at CM recently, but I feel like if the new signing comes in and performs well in that role it may lead Bitton to inch toward the door. Not knocking the guy's work ethic or attitude because he has kind of amended a lot of the perceptions people have had about him recently, but I think he feels as though his ability should translate to him playing first team football regularly.. which could very well not be the case over the next few months.

You guys realise bitttons only playing because Tams out injured and Stuarts playing in the hole. Eboues competition is Armstrong and he'll struggle to get in the team because hes been class this year

My bet is that he'll get a lot of playing time under his belt once the title is 'officially' won.

Can't see him featuring on Sunday as cup games are the ones that truly matter for us now. The league has been a formality since September and with the League Cup won, the treble is of paramount importance. Brendan will start a full strength team against St Mirren.

Hopefully make his debut as a sub at the weekend if we're up 3 or 4 with 30 mins to go.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do.
