Took a wee head stagger few weeks ago and ripped my kitchen/dinning room and living room apart since all these new colour changes out. Half way through it i went what in the name of good * did i just do because there was * all wrong with the place. Thats the misses putting it into my head about all these new colour schemes out. Could strangle the *. The * plasterboard for the ceilings alone cost a grand euros for this new insulated plasterboard. Near * when i got the invoice for it from the builders yard. Anyway, ended up building this stone fireplace aswell. Took me 7 long days. Usually would have been quicker but i kept changing it and moving stones to different places and changed the arch from an eliptical to a segmented arch because the eliptical was a headfuck gettting the corners right on the dry stone. All natural sand stone with a limestone key stone all shaped by me. About 2 and a half ton weight.

Thats for stashing the gear. All jokes aside, thats one thing about me, when im finishing something and it becomes tedious, i throw the head up and say * it, il finish it later. Them 2 small pieces needing filled in done my head in so ended up just cleaning teh room out and will go back on it in about 10 years after the misses has busted my balls enough to finish it lol

I worked a lot with natural stone. The tile slips version. To fix them wee holes will take you all off 30 minutes.
Get yourself a small bag of white wall tile adhesive. It's really a creamy colour. Find something to dye it to match the colour of individual stones. I'm a tiler so use grey adhesive. But to save you buying it just find something like coal dust or black shoe polish.
Mix in very small batches, I do it in a tea cup. Some of the stones are courser than others so a bit of fine sand will sort that out, although it's not always needed tbh, just that I'm fussy.
I've a few very small artist trowels (pallet knifes?).
Mix up colours and texture fill gaps, allow to dry overnight, use a dremel or a something small and course like small pieces of course sandpaper and shape. Done
Due to the varying colours of natural stone you will not notice a difference.
Oh make sure all voids are dry and totally dust free.

Forgot to say to make it a darker cream colour I mix the adhesive with small drops of cold strong black tea instead of water lol. It works hey

Need big * this size for the size of the gaf. will have to buy an artic load of tree trunks to keep it going. That, few hoppers of turf and few ton coal and will be blazing all next winter. You can cook on top of them aswell. Some weight in the * aswell. Took 4 of us to get it into the gaf :(

It’ll pay for itself in winter. You’ll be like Lord of the manor swishing whiskey around your tumblr. Looking on at your construction like a father over his new born.:77:

I'm a stonemason by trade and you have done a really neat job there...well done.

The wee holes I'd just burst a wee bit using a brick hammer ..try and roughly get the shape and plug them in dry.

Did you cut and shape any of the stone or was it pre cut ?..looks like 100ml on the bed

    Is it sandstone or limestone?
How did you tie it into the main building?
I'm thinking you laid them dry?

Sorry for all the questions...great job .:50:

Sorry again...just read it through properly.
