What is it with the Cornish having a problem with being English? Or is it something I’ve got in my head?

Very good post, the more the club visit Ireland the more recognition they get,one thing though,a couple of my mates were there yesterday and they said the hospitality was brilliant and the Shelbourne fans welcomed them the same as they did last year, with open arms.

That Depeche Mode when we score!!
During my frequent visits to the Highlands over the last 2 decades and more i have noticed the birth of the young Scots EPL Fan boy,a very sad sight.Luckily in Scotland we have a really strong fanbase but many clubs are struggling to keep their fanbase above water, being semi drowned by the EPL Tidal waves.

Cornish folk don't recognise themselves as being English, many a battle was fought between them,Cornwallians were once Welsh.

Just read a bit on it. Celtic blood in the Cornish. Never inducted as a county officially into England.

Celtic and their fans will always be welcomed in Ireland, and rightly so.

It does have to be said also, that when pushed most Irish EPL fanboys will say they have a soft spot for the hoops especially the older ones.

I have genuinely heard nothing but negative things from Southern Irish folk I have met over the years. All Man United and Liverpool mad and some have actively disliked Celtic. That is my experience , be it at University or out in the working world or travelling. Northern Irish Catholics on the other hand I have found to be often Celtic fans or at least Celtic is their second team/they hold an affinity for. This is just my experience.

Went over for the Shelbourne game year's ago and all the Tim's we met and spoke to were from the North. Rebel fest in 1 of the bars we were in. Loved it..

Definitely think that's where our main support is in Ireland..

On a side note I was watching the Conlan fight the other night and could hear the Celtic symphony rounds 2 and 3 :giggle1:

Few years back on Holidays in the area I visited the great hunger tour of Strokestown House. (very good too)
Newly educated from the tour, I set out that nite to catch the Celtic play in the CL in the local pubs.
Only to be knocked back because the were all showing man utd. I couldnae beleive the LOCALS supp googled eyed at it. And from what I learned earlier, i was discusted. But shows you, the pull. Being from Dublin, I thought it would just confined to the City.
